3 Little-Known Things That Kill Your Presentations

Most uccessful coaches, experts, and entrepreneurs use events to attract and sign up clients because it is the quickest way to build trust with your ideal audience.

By mastering the art of presenting and inspiring people to take action, you can position yourself as an expert and authority figure.

This leads to deeper relationships with potential clients as they get to know you better through video or Zoom, ultimately choosing you over other options.

Effective presenting is a craft that can transform your life both professionally and personally. By honing your presentation skills, you can work from home, achieve financial success, and boost your confidence.

You don’t need to be a super polished or charismatic speaker to learn this craft – anyone can do it.

Developing the ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas in a compelling way will also improve your communication skills in all areas of life.

Presenting is more than just a skill, it’s a game-changer that can elevate your personal and professional life.

However, there are some common mistakes presenters make that can be fatal and prevent people from watching, engaging, or even signing up to work with you.

It’s crucial to identify and avoid these mistakes to maximise the impact of your presentations.

In this video I share 3 little-known mistakes that kill your presentations.

You can watch the video here:

The 3 Little-Known Things That Kill Your Presentations.

1. Winging it, not crafting it

When you don’t take the time to craft your presentation properly when you’re just winging it, rather than crafting it without any type of structure that you’re following.

You can miss so much of your audience.

Because we all think in different ways.

There’s been so much research done on psychology and human behaviour and the way we process information that if we don’t follow the way the human brain naturally goes, we lose people.

The purpose of the presentation is for the audience, not for you. You are not there to process and download and work things out as you go.

You want to make sure that you have a framework that you’re following.

Always start with why then go into the what followed by the how to.

2. Focusing on yourself, not on the audience

If your nerves are making you so self-conscious, you’re thinking about yourself and not your audience.

It ends up that you’re not able to be really present and allow the flow to come through you, because you’re so busy thinking about yourself.

The more you think about your audience, the less nervous you’ll be.

3. Under sharing, or over sharing

A lot of people say to me, “How do I know what’s over-sharing and giving too much?” “How do I know what’s not giving enough?

Under sharing is being stingy and holding back from giving.

It’s so important, if we want to build trust, that we give plenty of free value, I find that the more give, the more clients I get.

We always have to provide great value whether that’s free or not. It’s not just oh, I’m going to hold back all of my awesome value only for my paying clients.

We’ve got to give substance content that has real-life application, even if it’s for free.

Now on the flip side is oversharing.

I used to do this all the time. Whenever I ran an event, I’d give so much away like this massive banquet and people would leave really full.

But it can be a disservice to people if they feel that they can go and do it on their own.

You want your presentations to give lots of value but you don’t want to give too much.

You always want to leave people satisfied and hungry for more.

There is a sweet spot in the middle between being generous and not giving away everything you have all at once.

There are many factors depending on where people are at in their journey, how much they’ve absorbed from you, or really how well they know you.

I’m going to be unpacking these factors in the upcoming workshop as well as so much more.

I’m sharing the formula that I’ve created “The clients from workshops formula” that I’ve used for the last 15 years.

To help you get clients from events, whether that’s workshops, webinars, master classes, or anytime that you show up to present.

I’m sharing how to create a really effective presentation where you craft it in a way that overcomes or dissolves any objections that they have if it’s the right person for you.

It positions you as the expert and the authority…

…and it really creates that desire for what you want.

How to deliver it with value getting that sweet spot. Making sure that it attracts and signs up the right people.

I’m also sharing how to market your workshops so that the right people come not just any people.

I’m doing it all without any complex tech. Without you having to do any sales calls. Or any of that kind of hustling tactics.

…It’s very elegant…

This powerful 1-day online workshop takes the best of what I’ve learned from running 300+ events and lays it all out in a simple system.

5 Things You Need To Grow Your Business To $10K Months Consistently

I have a question for you.

When was the last time that you sat down and planned out a clear game plan to bring in consistent clients every single month?

If you haven’t done it for a while, you’re not alone.

It’s not always easy to step back and move from working IN your business to actually working ON your business, from a strategic point of view.

In business, there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of things that we could be doing right now, in order to grow.

Like Blogging, Podcasting, Clubhouse, Google SEO, Facebook ads, YouTube videos, Instagram Reels…

We could be doing joint ventures, email nurture sequences, crafting great sales pages, DM strategies… the list is endless!

To grow our business, it’s crucial that we are in action. But how do we actually decide WHAT action to take… when there are SOOO many options of what we could be doing in our business?

Can you relate to this? You wake up in the morning, you’ve got a huge ‘to do’ list…

…you get caught up in life and appointments and next minute the sun is setting, and you realise that you haven’t posted on social that day.

And now you’ve got to go pick up your kids or meet your friends.

Maybe you’ve also got a side hustle, also known as your job (I call jobs ‘side hustles’ because they’re not the main thing 😉

Add to it your social life, and your family, hobbies, and everything else you want to be doing…

You just want to know how to make it all work to get your business delivering consistent results for you.

After being in business for the last 18 years now and trying so many things, I’ve discovered there are really just FIVE things that you need to focus on to grow your business to 10K+ months consistently.

It wasn’t until I did these things and looked back to reverse engineer it to see “Oh, that’s what I did to get there.”

The sooner you learn them, the sooner you’ll be able to implement and get better at them!

Here are FIVE things you need to grow your business to 10K+ months consistently.

1. Accelerated Attraction Strategy

The first thing you need to grow your business to 10k+ months consistently is what I call an ‘Accelerated Attraction Strategy’.

Attraction is the very first step to building awareness of your business – getting visibility onto what it is you do. So you need a strategy to attract the right people consistently.

Not just as a one-off, for example like one video on your website or one post on your Facebook page, but a consistent strategy that you’re out-working every single week.

And the most important thing about your strategy is that you have clarity on three things.

a. The Big Problem That You’re Solving

The first thing that you need clarity on is the big problem that you’re solving. What is that one big problem that people will pay you to solve?

A lot of entrepreneurs jump in and they start posting content straight away until they’ve got that clarity.

b. The Ideal People That You’re Serving

The second thing that you need to know is who are the ideal people that you’re serving. Who is that select group of people?

It’s not everyone. It’s not even women in Australia, aged 30 to 50. It’s not that.

It’s who are the exact people that you’re serving in terms of the unique problems that you can solve, and then it’s who of those people who will pay for your services.

c. Your Point of Difference

The third thing you need clarity on is your point of difference.

How are you going to stand out?

If you’re a health coach, what makes you different from all the other health coaches?

You need clarity on the problem, the people, and the point of difference.

A lot of clarity comes when you’re moving and on your way.

Clarity doesn’t come when you’re stuck and not putting yourself out there.

You need to have as many conversations as you can and start looking for the patterns.

This is how I did it. I did lots and lots of conversations with people and I realised what I was good at.

I didn’t realise until I actually started working with people and coaching them, what some of my unique gifts were.

Do you know what your unique point of difference or your brilliance is?

A lot of people say they don’t know so if you’re not sure, start working with people. Then you’ll see that you’re actually quite good at that. I thought everyone could do that but actually no, that’s not true. Not everyone can do that.

They call it ‘unconscious competence’ where you’re really good at something and you don’t realise it’s actually something that you’re really masterful at.

I didn’t realise that I was actually really good at copywriting and helping people with the actual structure of their writing, and I was good at seeing the things that people needed from a strategic point of view – seeing the gap seeing the holes.

So that point of difference comes along the way.

However, you don’t want to just jump into doing five posts a week if you haven’t really nailed down those things that could actually push away the people that you’re trying to attract.

2. Compelling Content Formula

The second thing you need is a Compelling Content Formula.

You can have an INCREDIBLE program or service, but without compelling content, it’s like having a Porsche but leaving it in your garage. You won’t get far.

There are two ways that we can do content – either written or spoken.

What I recommend to all of my clients is that you have a combination of written and spoken content.

Then you need a strategy and a structure.

Firstly you need an overarching strategy – knowing “this is what I do on a weekly basis for my content.” – the types of videos, the types of posts, you’re going to do, like one Facebook Live video a week and then maybe turn it into a blog post, leveraging that content, sending an email once or twice a week, for example. That’s your strategy.

Your structure is what actually goes into that video or that post.

It’s really important that you don’t just write ‘how-to’ content, just telling people what to do but don’t actually inspire action. Your posts, every piece of content that goes out should inspire some type of action.

It should talk about a pain point that someone’s going through so it’s not just telling someone what to do, it’s influencing them to want to change.

When you take the time to educate your clients, it can really dramatically shift things. Because quality clients need to be educated, they need to understand why you are different in terms of the result you can offer.

3. A Profitable Presentation

The third thing you need is a profitable presentation.

This could be a live video, it could be a video training, a pre-recorded video, it could be an event, even an online event like a webinar or it could be a workshop but you need some way that you can present what it is you do.

Written content is important but reading content on its own, like blogs, emails, social media captions, all of that is never really enough to attract clients consistently.

So written content alone doesn’t usually inspire or influence someone to actually make a significant purchase decision unless you’re doing a really low ticket offer like a $7 or $47, or a $97 offer. Usually written content isn’t enough to actually get someone over the line unless you’re really brilliant marketer, a really great copywriter, and really great writer.

Let’s be real, how many people have transferred money into your bank account because they’ve read one of your posts or because they’ve read one of your blogs? The reality is, it’s not a reliable enough strategy to consistently have a pipeline of clients coming in.

If we want people to trust us, we need time with them. In order to get trust, it takes time. Think about a relationship, you’re not going to jump into a committed relationship until you’ve had enough time with that person.

So in order to build trust, we need to ask for people’s time, however long it takes for them to go from what we call ‘cold to sold’. It’s very rarely from cold straight to sold. They need time in between.

And the reason people give us time is because we educate them.

There’s a great book called “Oversubscribed” by Daniel Priestley. He talks about a study that showed that people need about seven hours of time with us before they make a significant buying decision. Seven hours. It’s interesting, isn’t it.

And if you think about how many social media posts they need to read in order to make a significant brand decision, that’s a lot!

I compare it to doing one pushup every day. You could do one pushup every day for 30 days but you’re probably not going to get a significant result.

Or you could do one event, let’s say a seven-hour workshop, and in that one event you’ve got all those seven hours all at once – which is why events are one of my favorite strategies.

Even like the 60 minute event. You could never get a 60 minute time with someone on social media. It’s so hard to do that. Some people do that on a Facebook Live if they really, really engaging but it’s very rare.

So an online event where people actually register for it, I compare it to busking versus having a concert. You can walk past a busker and say, “Hey, that looks cool”,  and just have a little nosy or stand there and watch them for a while but then you just wander on.

That’s what it’s like on social media – it’s a scroll fest, but when someone registers and comes in and hears your presentation it’s such a win-win scenario. You’re giving them your time and your education, and they’re giving you their trust.

So written content and a presentation is the most potent combination to attract clients.

It helps you build authority, it helps you build trust, it helps you to be able to overcome people’s false beliefs, and it inspires action. It’s super leveraged.

4. An Automated Funnel

Number four is an Automated Funnel.

In business, there are two distinct paths.

One path is the path where you keep letting your business rule you and you work manually. You just keep up as best as you can with that never-ending ‘to do’ list … and anyone can do that.

Or, you can choose a second path which is the path of building an asset. This is when you bring automation into your business.

And this is what so many of your competitors are not willing to do because it takes some thought. It’s not the easiest road.

Les Brown says, “The hard road gets easy and the easy road gets hard.”

The easy road is like, “I’ll just show up and just randomly post and just post when I feel super inspired.” And, “Hey, just contact me if you want to work with me.”

There’s no system, there’s no structure, there’s no automation.

But one of the most powerful ways to succeed is to look at the places your competitors aren’t willing to go and this path, yes, it takes some work, it takes some thought takes some energy but if it’s easy for you to do, it’s easy for your competitors to do.

And I was talking to someone about it today actually saying, “I like the challenge. I like that it’s hard to kind of break my brain to come up with a great piece of content or great video idea” because this is what so many people aren’t willing to do.

A lot of business owners start out and they’re running their business manually because they want to get going and they want to focus on sales, but then they attempt to just keep doing this manual, old school way of doing things where there’s no system, there’s no automation.

All it takes is what I call an ‘adoption of automation’.

I’m not saying you have to have everything automated because there are elements of manual things that we do in our business. But
if you can work on getting the funnels in place and stop running your business, trying to figure it all out, that’s quite an old school process.

You’ve got to decide, the technology’s there for things to be more automated, to look after people so that they’re not falling through the gaps and so that they get an email nurture sequence to then move through my funnel elegantly. This way I’m building my list, I’m building an asset and it’s not just random.

Very few people do this well.

However, you can decide that you’re going to build more of a scalable asset and you can make a heck of a lot of income, without doing a heck of a lot of work. You don’t need to do so much work on an ongoing basis, you just need to do the work once and it’s done.

It does take some energy to learn it. I needed to learn the skills. It took me a few weeks to learn it but even if it took me six months, I’d still do it because now I get to benefit from a funnel that I created years ago and I’m still benefiting from it.

You do it once and it’s done.

Funnels have been such a game-changer in my business. Having a funnel in place would generate that consistent flow of leads into your business and when you get it right, it can really change everything for you.

Right now, just in your mind, stop for a second and think about what it would be like to have a 24/7 marketing machine working for you. You don’t have to do that hustle.

It’s a real game-changer.

There’s great power in having an automated funnel.

They’re so powerful because they elegantly bring people in so that when you get on the sales calls, it doesn’t feel salesy. It doesn’t even feel like a sales conversation. It just feels like people are excited and ready to work with you because they’ve been educated and they’ve been looked after, every step of the way.

5. A High-Performance Mindset

The fifth thing that you need to grow your business to 10k months or more consistently is a High-Performance Mindset.

There’s a mindset when you’re earning 1k or less per month, or when you’re in a startup compared to when you’re earning 10k or more per month.

There are some key differences so I’m going to give you just three of them here.

a. Improving Your Craft

The first one is when you’re at that lower level, there’s a real focus on improving your craft. So I may need to do another certification or to get better at coaching or adding hypnotherapy or NLP to my services, or adding other skills.

A lot of service-based entrepreneurs and coaches want to uplevel their craft, so they’re getting good at what they do but actually, they’re already good enough at what they do. What they’re lacking is actually the business skills – the sales and the marketing side of the business.

So that’s a real shift in mindset by saying, “I’m good enough right now to position myself as an expert. It doesn’t mean I have to be perfect or the best, it just means that I have to have a unique point of difference”, which you already do – you’re different than other people just by being you.

b. Overcome the Fear of What People Think

The second distinction between the 1k or less mindset and the 10k mindset is that when you’re first setting up, there’s a real thing about playing it safe and not putting yourself out there as much. But when you realise that in order to scale your business, you have to get out there more and you have to take more risks.

You have to overcome the fear of what people think and that requires a level of vulnerability, of showing up, of getting on video, and taking a risk to maybe run an event while thinking, “Well, I don’t know if people are going to come or not, but I’m going to do it anyway and I’m going to get people there. I’m going to use my influence skills to invite people.”

There’s a whole strategy around that I teach about how to actually get people in and I’ve never had anyone that I’ve worked with run an event where people haven’t come. They’ve always been able to get people there when they follow the strategy that I teach.

It’s really that shift from playing it small, being timid, being quite passive, just hoping people come to you, and actually stepping up and being willing to take risks.

c. An Abundance Mindset

The third mindset shift is when you’re first starting out, or when you’re stuck at that 1k or 2k month levels, and it’s not having the confidence to really solve a clear problem, and trying to be everything to everyone.

It’s really a mindset shift of abundance that there are enough people.

So it’s stepping across to positioning yourself as the authority, as the expert, and having that abundance mindset.

There’s a lot of money mindset things that need to happen to transition and actually feel like you’re worthy of charging what you’re worth.

I had to go through a lot of money mindset coaching myself, and really diving deep into what I believed in from my childhood and the way I was brought up in order to step into being a six-figure business owner.

So I have a question for you. How would you feel having a day to work on your business and learn exactly how to do all of this?

If you’re in Sydney, this event is unpacking each of these five things, telling you exactly what to do so that you can have a consistent pipeline in order to enable you to get to that 10k mark consistently. You will know exactly what to do by the end of this event.

If you’re not in Sydney, we are going to be running an online version soon so stay tuned for that.

If you are in Sydney and you are free on Saturday (19th June), we’re taking a whole day to dive deep into how to do these things because it is very hard to do it just after watching one video.

You can check it out by clicking here.

You’ll walk away knowing how to apply each of the five steps to your business.

We’ll show you how to

Create an Accelerated Attraction Strategy,

Structure your content using a Compelling Content Formula

Create a Profit Presentation

Set up Automated Funnels so you’ve got that 24/7 client attraction machine

and how to overcome those money mindset blocks and move into having those keys of a high-performance abundance mindset.

You’ll also get the support of three experts and a really cool community!

I’ve seen the list of who’s coming and there are really great people that you’ll get to meet!

So if you’d like to join us, you can check it out by clicking here.

Keep showing up. Keep sharing your brilliance with the world.

Even if you have doubts, even if you have fears, it’s totally normal.

Keep showing up anyway because the clarity comes when you’re moving – not when you’re staying stuck.

The world needs YOU!

How To Go To Your Next Level In Business

What’s your next level? Is there something you want to do next that you’re not currently doing?

I recently spoke at an event and asked this question to the audience. A lot of people came up to me afterwards saying they haven’t thought about their next level for a while.  It’s something that can slip to the back of our mind as we get caught up in day-to-day life.

Your next level might be running a webinar or an event.

Or maybe it’s writing an online course or a book.

It might be asking for a promotion or a raise.

Or maybe it’s starting a business or a side hustle.

What makes you excited?

Your next level could be something you’ve been thinking about for a while, but you’ve put it off. And it sits in the back of your mind… or in a note in your phone… or in a journal… or maybe you’ve shared it with a friend.

Your next level is usually something you’re a bit scared to do – or you feel like you don’t have time to do.

But if you’re totally real with yourself, you know you want to step up. And there’s often a quiet voice inside us whispering for you to go after it.

Our next level is where our growth is. And growth is ultimately what makes our life fulfilling and meaningful.

Your next level will give you a sense of progress and purpose. And progress and purpose ultimately is what makes us fulfilled and excited and gives our life meaning.

Sometimes we think we have to take a massive leap to change our life, but our next level is just ONE action away to get started

Imagine you’re in a bulls eye in the centre of a target board. The bulls eye represents your comfort zone. Your big picture vision is the very outer ring. And your next level is in the ring right next to you.

Sometimes we think we have to take a maaaassive leap to, but your next level is not miles away. It’s usually just one action away to get started. One decision

The challenge is resistance, like fear or doubt can surround us like an invisible boundary. But often the resistance isn’t real, it’s imagined.

We think we’re staying comfortable, but the truth is, the comfort zone starts to get really uncomfortable.

The comfort zone is the great enemy to success.

Over the last 18 years helping people get results and transform their lives, I’ve discovered there are 3 main problems that most people face when it comes to going to their next level.

1 –  Not Having The Right Strategy

The first problem is not having the right strategy – when we don’t know where to start, we don’t know the steps or have a solid plan.

2 – Not Having The Right Structures

The second problem is not having the right structures. High achievers and high performers have intentional structures in their lives that grow them. Structures create outcomes.

Without structures, our brain naturally takes the path of least resistance.

When we study nature, we find the principle of the path of least resistance everywhere. Think about a riverbed. A riverbed is an underlying structure that causes the stream of water to flow the way it does.

And it’s the same for us in our lives.

Our mind is designed to conserve energy – it’s called the law of conservation of energy.

We think we want to go to the gym, but we find ourselves on the lounge watching Netflix.

The cool thing is, we can change our structures.

We can put new structures in – like success habits and consistent appointments and commitments that can change our life.

How we got to where we are today is by following certain structures.

Our future is determined by the structures we put in place in our life today.

3 – Not Having The Right Support

And the third problem I see people face is not having the right support. We become who we hang around.

When we spend time with people who are pessimistic, we can become pessimistic. Have you noticed this?

When we don’t seek out the right mentors and mastermind groups, our lives can stay small and stuck.

When you spend time with people who are supportive and uplift you, then you are more likely to go to that next level.

Not having the right strategy, structures, and support, are three things that can put a handbrake on you going to the next level.

When I realised this, I started putting these three things in place with the help of coaches, and I went from being pretty miserable, to having a life that I love.

And now I’m helping other people because I love it. I’ve helped thousands of people go to the next level of their lives and get the results they want.

The majority of people who have gone to the next level, whether they’re stepping up and running an event or running a webinar, or committing to consistent content or committed to learning new skills, they have said to me that it’s actually easier than they thought it would be. Sometimes we make it so big in our head. A lot of people really over-complicate business, and they make it super complex.

But when you sit down and you take it step-by-step and you follow a proven strategy that’s personalised to you, it’s so much easier to go to the next level than you think.

It All Starts With Your Thoughts

What these 3 things all have in common, is they all start with your thinking.

Think back to a time where you had achieved a successful result. What were you thinking at the time of achieving that successful result?

Now think back to a time where you were struggling. What were your thoughts when you were struggling? Was your thinking different? Usually, when you are struggling it’s negative thoughts you are thinking.

The National Science Foundation published an article that found that the average person thinks about 60,000 thoughts a day and 80%  of the thoughts were negative.

Our brain is wired to look for what’s wrong. It’s a survival mechanism. It’s there to keep us safe. Our brain is designed to find the predator and see the threat. Because our brain is designed to follow this path of least resistance, we need to be really intentional to not allow ourselves to fall into that path.

The path of least resistance and comfort actually becomes really uncomfortable in the end. You don’t drift to success or to your next level. You have to be super intentional and it starts with intentional thinking.

It takes a real focussed decision to change our thinking and to push through that boundary of resistance to the next level. You need to identify the resistance that’s coming up in you.

You need to intentionally look for and focus on the positive. So I’m going to give you a simple model that explains this. I talked about this model last week and it’s my TEAR mode.

The TEAR Model

The TEAR model is super simple, but it’s really powerful if you use it as a model and apply it to your life.

T = Thoughts

E = Emotions

A = Action

R = Results

Your thoughts lead to your emotions. Your emotions, lead to your action and your actions lead to your results.

Looking At Your Current Results Through The TEAR Model

If you look at your current results and if you’re not happy with your current results you want to look at the actions that are leading to those results. On a piece of paper, start with writing down your current results.

The current result could be that you only have 5 clients a week, but you want 10 clients. (Separate emotions from this when you do it and just be factual.)

Then you look at what actions you are taking to get you those current 5 clients (your results.)

What do you spend time doing to get those current results? Do you spend time playing around making something look pretty on Canva when you know you should be making an automation funnel? Or do you know you are meant to step up and do video, but keep putting it off?

Next, you want to look at the emotions that are leading to your actions. Maybe it’s overwhelm, or you’re feeling frustration, confusion or apathy. Take a look at how you are feeling and write it down.

These are the emotions that are leading to the negative thoughts that are stopping you from taking action. You could be thinking thoughts like, “I’m scared of failure” or “People might judge me”.

Often these thoughts are happening at a subconscious level and driving your decisions.

Looking At Your Desired Results Through The TEAR Model

Next, you want to write down your desired result. That could be increasing your clients or the amount you are earning. Then you need to decide the actions you need to take like running a webinar or posting consistent content or reaching out to 10 people a day.

To take those actions, you need to look at your emotions and choose emotions like determination, inspiration, passion.

Finally, we need to look at the thoughts we need to think in order to feel those feelings and take the actions.

They could be thoughts like…

“I’ll find a way. I’ll make a way!”

or “The right people are waiting for me”

or “I will do it, even if I’m scared”

or “I can handle it”

Earl Nightingale said “We become what we think about most of the time”.

So what are you thinking about most of the time? And what do you need to be thinking about in order to get what you want?

People who get what they want think differently to people who don’t get what they want.

How much time each day are you spending thinking about what you do want?

How much time each day are you spending with people who have the results you want?

We become who we hang around. If you’re not hanging around with successful people who have the results you want, then it’s going to be a long road to get to success.

Remember, your next level will give you a sense of progress and purpose and ultimately is what makes life fulfilling, exciting, and meaningful.

Are you an introvert or extrovert? What this says about how fast you’ll succeed in business

Have you ever wondered what effect your personality style is having on how fast you’re growing your business?

A lot of people share with me that they struggle to do the things that successful business owners do, like holding an event, doing a Facebook live video, or running a webinar, and put it down to being an introvert.

Other times, extroverts tell me that normally they can talk to anyone – but when it comes to talking to that little lens on their laptop, they get anxious.

Too often, we use our personality type – such as being an introvert to STOP us from doing the very things we KNOW we need to do, so we can see the results we want.

The KEY to getting results quickly in your business is to be able to clearly see what is acting as a handbrake and stopping you from moving forward in your business…

It is always the story we’re telling ourselves. And it all begins with our thoughts.

Being able to identify the thoughts that hinder our actions, and ultimately our results, helps you BREAKTHROUGH your limitations…

…and into the business success you dream of.

The challenge is, most of us have no awareness of the thoughts that are causing the issues because they are happening at the unconscious level.

In this training, I share how being an introvert or extrovert affects how fast you’ll succeed in business…

so you can…

* Use your personality traits to your advantage

* Identify the thoughts and beliefs hindering you from getting results

* Step out of the slow lane and into the results fast lane TODAY

I share my TEAR Model – a success creation formula that enables you to quickly identify what you need to focus on to create success in your business.

Introvert or Extrovert?

Let’s start by thinking about whether you identify as an introvert or an extrovert. I have a lot of people talk to me about this, and they use one or the other, as a way of explaining their results or their actions.

Introverts and extroverts both have traits that can serve them, and traits that can hinder them. There are pros and cons for each. You may identify as an extrovert or an introvert, or you may not identify as either.

Perhaps you identify as an ambivert, which is someone who has qualities of growth. All of us identify with each area in some ways. Sometimes we love hanging out with people because we’re human and we’re social creatures.

An ambivert is not someone who sometimes likes being with people and sometimes doesn’t. How ambiverts are typically described, is that they can slip into either depending on their mood, their context and their goals.

Ambiverts have also been called outgoing introverts. I naturally identify as an introvert because I love spending lots of time by myself, compared to a lot of people.

A lot of people don’t realise that I’m an introvert. They assume because I’m a speaker and I’m constantly showing up on video and running events, that I’m an extrovert. I have high energy when I’m with a group, so people often assume that I’m an extrovert every day.

I’ve also heard it described sometimes as an anti-social extrovert.  Naturally, these people are extroverted,  but they need a lot of time to recharge, before and after socialising.

And then, they really need a lot of time by themselves to draw energy, but they still love connection and being social. It kind of comes down to the amount of time that you really want to be with other people and where you get your energy from.

Beliefs About Introverts And Extroverts

A lot of people tell me that they are introverts and therefore they struggle to put themselves out there on video or running webinars or doing Facebook Lives.

It was Carl Jung who advanced the theory on introverted and extroverted personality types. He defined introversion as inwardly directed psychic energy. We may assume that introverts are shyer and find it harder. We may assume that extroverts are more willing to put themselves out there and present themselves more boldly and confidently.

It used to be that extraversion was a strong predictor of who would become a leader. But this thought has been debunked somewhat.

In my experience, all personality types struggle if they don’t have the right thinking, regardless of whether they identify as an introvert or extrovert.

According to an article on Inc.com, psychologists had discovered that introverts do just as well in leadership roles. A lot of these stereotypes have been challenged in recent times. I’ve read a number of articles on introverts who are really successful leaders and entrepreneurs.

In the past, in Western society extraversion was really celebrated. The outgoing enthusiastic person often is thought to get more things done and may be known as a greater communicator. This is seen as an asset.

However, other articles show that the introvert / extrovert scale only represents about 20% of what they called the Big Five personality traits. And that is a lot more to a person than how much social stimulation they need.

And this is really what I’m wanting to drive through as a point here,  is that your success rate in business has very little to do with whether you identify as an introvert or extrovert.

In my experience, over the last 17 years in business, I’ve met a lot of successful extroverts and a lot of successful introverts.

What is it that is actually determining our rate of success then?

I have created a formula for success. I call it the TEAR Model.

T – Thoughts

E – Emotions

A – Actions

R – Results

The TEAR model explains that our thoughts lead to our emotions. Our emotions lead to our actions. And our actions lead to our results.

This is basic psychology. I didn’t make that up. I just gave it a label.

I just named a concept from everything that I’ve looked at in psychology from NLP to fixed mindsets and growth mindsets and cognitive behaviour therapy.

Our results are based on our actions, our actions are based on our feelings and all of it is coming from our thinking and the stories that we tell ourselves. These stories include how we think about ourselves.

Our self-image is made up of the stories that we tell ourselves. It’s made up of the beliefs, thoughts, and data or proof that we’ve collected over time. This all contributes to our story that we rehearse. But these stories are just thoughts.

So if we want to change our results, we need to look at what thoughts are driving those results. Most people are stuck at the results level, and asking themselves why they can’t get more results.

Everything that has been created has started with a thought.  For example, a bookshelf. Someone had the thought to build a bookshelf. They got a feeling from that thought, whether it was a feeling of motivation creation, innovation, whatever it was. They took action and they created a result, which is the finished bookshelf.

Our thoughts are habits and you can create new thought habits. Instead of saying, “I’m an introvert, so I find it hard.” Choose a more empowering thought.

There are so many successful introverts. If you look at the Top 10 richest people in the world, who are multi-billionaires, like Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, and Bill Gates – about half the lists are introverts and the other half are extroverts.

These introverts are still putting themselves out there and not letting their introverted natures stop them from succeeding.  Richard Branson is an introvert that sits on a couch and is kind of shy. He looks a little bit awkward. I’ve seen him live. He may be an introvert, but he’s presenting all the time.

Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Wozniak the co-founder of Apple, and Barack Obama, are all people who identify as introverts, and these people still present. A lot of them present regularly, and they don’t let being an introvert stop them.

If you want to succeed in business, your rate of growth is measured by how willing you are to take the right action,  regardless of how you were born and what natural personality type you are.

Reverse Engineering the TEAR Model

When you look at the TEAR Model, and you say you want to get your business going fast, and you want to make money, help people and be creative. Perhaps you want to create an online course or a webinar or a coaching group program.

Grab a piece of paper and write down your page T.E.A.R. Start at the bottom with R.

R – Results

In the R line – put the result you want. Maybe the result is to make $10,000 a month or run a webinar, whatever your result is you are aiming for.

 A – Actions

Then in the A line, you need to write all the different actions you need to take, to get to the result. It could be you need to create a free downloadable recourse or create a landing page and funnel. There are so many different lead generation strategies, and you just need to pick them and go for it for the next 30 days.

E – Emotion

In the E line, you need to write what emotions you need to have to take those actions. So you don’t want to be depressed, anxious, fearful, or stressed. What you want is to be determined and motivated.

You want to have the feeling of energy, that you’re unstoppable. Think about the emotion that’s going to make you want to take those actions and just write all those emotions out.

The emotion could be feeling unstoppable, or feeling passionate or grateful. These are the emotions that will drive you to take action.

T – Thoughts

Finally, what thoughts do you need to think? Thoughts are a little bit sneaky, as it’s harder to catch thoughts. What thoughts do you need to be thinking to get those feelings, take those actions and get that result?

With the thoughts, often you need to write them out or you need to go through them with a coach.  Because for us to change,  we have to change the meaning we put on things.

If we’ve been looking at something the same way the whole time,  it’s really hard for us to see and have a different perspective on that thing. We often need someone else to give us a different perspective.

For example, if I hold up my phone. I’m looking at the Apple logo and you’re looking at the face of my screen. We’re both looking at the same object. But I’m looking at it from a completely different angle to you. I can only see this side of it, and you can only see the other side of it.

It’s the same with a result. We look at it one way. And there could be hundreds, if not thousands of ways to look at it. It’s very hard for us to try and do it in our mind.

We need to externalize it,  and get it down on paper and do some self-coaching on it. This will help us get a little bit further than keeping it in our head.  But ultimately, if you want to see a transformation, you need someone else’s perspective.

You need someone else to see things or draw things out of you, that were previously unconscious. About 90% of our thoughts we think every day are unconscious thoughts, and we are not even aware we are having those thoughts.

Your Thoughts Drive Your Results

It’s those unconscious thoughts that are driving our results. So, we can also sit down and think about the results we want, and what you might need to be thinking to get that.

One thought is: “Whatever it takes, I have everything I need to succeed.” How often are you repeating a thought like that in your mind, if you really want that desired result?

How often are you having these commands that are going to get you that result? “I absolutely can create 10k a month as a business owner, and I will keep going until I find a way.”

If we thought that empowering thought dozens and dozens and dozens of times every day, and we felt the emotion of it, eventually we would start taking the actions and start getting the results.

Most people are focusing on the problems and all the reasons why things won’t work. They are focusing on the things that are going to give them a completely different result.

Using The TEAR Model On Current Results

So let’s look at the other side of it, and look at what your current results are. On the other side of the paper to your TEAR,  write down your current situation. And this is where you can start reverse-engineering the thoughts that are driving your current results. It sounds simple but it is actually not.

It takes thinking and intention to really get to know what those subconscious thoughts are. To do this, look at your results. Let’s say you are only making $1,000 a month. That’s your current result.

Then ask yourself what actions you are taking that are leading you to the $1000 a month.  It could be that you are contacting five people a month. Or you are doing Facebook Live once every three weeks. You may be reaching out to your email list once a month. These are all the actions you are taking to cause your current result.

Then write what feelings are driving these actions. Are you feeling negative about yourself? What do you say to yourself?

Are you saying to yourself, “I don’t really think I know what I’m doing? I’m kind of a bit vague. I don’t really trust myself. I don’t have a specific niche, so I’m coming from a place of doubt. I don’t want to turn up on camera so I’m avoiding running a webinar.”

There are so much fear and negativity attached to these feelings and all of these thoughts are negative, so these are leading to your wishy-washy results. You’re not putting yourself out there and showing yourself boldly.

Footpath Activities Versus Fast Lane Activities

I give an analogy of footpath activities, steady lane activities, medium lane, and fast lane activities.

Negative, pessimistic thoughts zap your energy. There is a flatness that comes with resignation. Instead of working on what you need to work on, you watch Netflix and don’t do what I call ‘fast lane’ activities. Fast Lane activities are what get you in the fast lane and get results fast.

Fast lane activities are: directly contacting people, sales calls, and private messages.

Medium lane activities include: following up leads, creating a webinar, creating a client attraction funnel, creating consistent content.

Steady lane activities include sending a weekly or twice weekly email to your list and updating your Facebook group regularly or posting really valuable content.

Footpath activities include: mucking around on Canva and trying to make things look pretty. Creating things that you don’t really need to create. Consuming a whole heap of content that is not needed but it’s fun.

If you look at your results, and your actions, you will probably find that you’re not getting the results you want, like the 10k a month, then you’re probably doing a lot of these footpath activities.

Think about the feelings, the doubt, the fear, and what thoughts are causing this result? “I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t really know what I’m doing. Nothing works for me. Facebook’s too hard to figure out. I suck at technology.”

These thoughts are keeping you on the footpath and out of the fast lane. The TEAR Model is super easy, but it’s powerful to work out what you need to think, feel and take action on, to create the result you want. I encourage you to do this activity.

Why It’s Time To RAMP It Up In Your Business

Lately I’ve heard a lot of people say they just want this year to be over. They’re excited about next year.

It gets to this time of year, and a lot of people want to take their foot off the accelerator.

We see the Christmas decorations go up in the shops and it’s easy to think, “Ohhh, I’m exhausted. I’ve had a big year. I’m going to slow down now.”

Next year can almost become a ‘dumping ground’ for anything we’ve been putting off this year.

I get it. This year has been really tough for a lot of people.

But although 2020 may not have bought you the results you wanted… you can still make this year count.

Ending your year by finishing strong and feeling successful, with the right focus, strategy and execution can completely change how you start next year.

We still have time to finish the year well.

Ending your year by finishing strong and feeling successful, with the right focus, strategy and execution can completely change how you start next year.

I’m not talking about those of you who genuinely need a rest. I’m talking about those of you who know that there’s a bit more in your tank and you’ve got more to give.

The good thing about success is we get to determine what success means.

WE get to define our year, whether we feel it was successful or not. It’s not based on someone else’s metric. It’s based on our own metric. It’s based on how we feel.

It could be an amount of money coming into your bank account, or a number of clients, or doing a webinar or Facebook Live video.

If you’re focusing on ‘just getting by’ into next year, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity that successful entrepreneurs know.

Which is – every task counts, every day counts, every week counts, every quarter counts.

If you’re already checking out of this year mentally, feeling it’s too late to start something, then I invite you to ask yourself this: Do people still need your help?

If the answer is yes, then consider keeping going, keeping helping people.

Obviously, if you need to take a mental health break, a physical, emotional or spiritual break, then do it.

But if you feel you have it in you to do more…

Here are 3 reasons why I believe it’s time to ramp up in your business:

1 – Most People Are Not Ramping Up

I’m generally not a massive advocate on focusing on your competitors and thinking about what they’re doing. But sometimes we can use it to fuel us.

Think about the fact that most people aren’t doing this.  Then think about what successful entrepreneurs do and emulate that.

In business, you don’t want to do what everyone else is doing.

Quarter 4 is when I ramp things up. Quarter 4 is the quarter that I go even harder, because I know holidays are coming.

I want to feel really deserving on my holidays and that I’m finishing my year strong. Because if I don’t, I know what I’m like and  I’ll just regret it and be disappointed.

If I didn’t ramp it up, I’d miss out on new clients, launching new programs and new opportunities.

And if you’re super productive, you can get a lot of things done when you focus on the right things.

If you’re trying to grow a business, as an entrepreneur in this day and age, you recognise that you need to use your time wisely. You can get so much done in just one week. So if you take your foot off too early, you can waste so much time.

It’s really important that you take opportunities where other people aren’t. I know that December and January are my quietest months, they always have been over the last 17 years in business. A lot of people go away, so you want to get ahead of the game.

Be intentional for what you want to achieve to finish the year well and also start the new year well.

Be clear. Be specific and you will kick your goals and feel awesome.

2- It Sets You Up For The Tone of the Coming Year

Ramping up your business in Quarter 4 sets you up for the tone of the coming year. Be the person who doesn’t cut corners and who doesn’t stop short of your goals. This is a mentality I’ve built within myself.

I used to do a long run which was about 8 kilometres door to door. Towards the end of the run I’d think that I could just slow down and walk the rest of it. But when that thought came, I would move into my entrepreneur identity and think, “Kat you are not a person to cut corners. You don’t stop short of your goals. You are a person of excellence.”

When you have that mentality of finishing successfully, you will take that feeling into your holiday and into the new year.  And when you feel that success, you will want to keep feeling that success.

You want to be the person that executes and does whatever it takes to finish strong. I don’t know about you, but after I’ve been on holiday, I don’t feel motivated to get back to business.

If I know that I’ve had all these wins and I’ve got people waiting for me to serve them, then I get motivated. If I’ve had all these wins the year before, that excites me as I go about my business in the new year.

Finish strong and make it a habit. Then make sure that you give your brain a break over the holidays. Fully stop and give your body and brain a break. Allow the adrenaline to release from your body, so you can recoup for the new year ahead.

3 – Success Breeds Success

The third reason why it’s time to ramp it up in your business, is because success breeds success.

Success almost always brings more success and failure brings more failure.

If you’re feeling a little bit like you’ve not achieved what you’ve wanted to this year, there’s still time.

Don’t finish mediocre. That mindset is not beneficial to you or to being a successful entrepreneur.

We need to be both present-focused AND future-focused as entrepreneurs. We need to have one eye on the present and be very present every day, and one eye on the future and having a vision and plan.

So I want to ask you a question: What’s it going to take for you to feel like you had a successful year?

What 3 things do you want to achieve before the end of the year?

Put your focus on those. Don’t waste time constantly consuming other people’s socials or checking your likes. Create. Start executing a plan.

Execution is about creating things – like events, programs, documents and videos, all things that are helpful for people.

Start thinking about the momentum of success that you can carry on to next year.

I challenge you to write down 3 things that would make you consider this year successful if you achieve them before 31st of December.

Then write down 3 things you want to get done each week leading up to December 31st.

These are your top 3 priorities. Every day look at your top 3 priorities for the week so you keep your focus.

Ever day matters, so let’s make every day count.
