How To Create A 6-Figure Coaching Business (Without Doing ‘All The Things’)

What does it really take to grow a 6-figure coaching business?

If you’ve been coaching for a while, you’re probably a great coach. But if you want to create a six-figure coaching business, the question to ask is… is being a great coach enough to get you reliable, consistent clients?

In theory, anyone can become a coach. Coaching is generally the easier part. It’s the business of coaching that’s more complex.

The successful coaches I know (myself included) have created success predominately because of our business skills. Understanding the business side is what makes a difference between making it or not making it as a business owner.

I know I’m a great coach. But that’s not the main reason I grew my business to earn 6 figures annually. It happened because I got as good at business as I am at coaching. And because I am, I can help WAY more people.

So I’m going to share some of the mistakes I made and also the common mistakes I see coaches making.

Successful coaches have mastered the art and science of marketing and selling.

You might be thinking that you don’t like sales or marketing. Or you may not want to come across as pushy.

I get it. But here’s the good news.

To become a 6-figure coach, you don’t need to be an expert marketer, do cold pitching, chase people or hustle… You don’t need run ads or even have a website!

You certainly don’t need to work longer hours, grunting and grinding away on things you don’t enjoy. Otherwise, you can burn out & become a slave to your business.

But you DO need to take the things off your to-do list that aren’t moving the needle forward and focus on doing the right things.

If you want to generate a consistent flow of quality leads you need a proven strategy…

…so you can finally stop the frustration of wondering where your clients are going to come from… and start consistently earning 10k+ per month, reliably and predictably.

After being in business for 18 years and trying so many different things, I’ve discovered there are just 5 things you need to focus on to grow your coaching business to six figures.

1 – Design A Client Attraction Strategy

The first thing you need is a strategy to attract your ideal clients consistently. For this attraction phase to work, you’ve got to remember that people buy for their reasons, not yours.

When I started out in business, I was a personal trainer, then a health coach, a mindset coach.

When I decided to become a business coach, I didn’t want to let go of all this knowledge I had acquired in these other areas. I tried to position myself to do way too many things, and it just didn’t work.

Choosing a focused niche may feel like you are closing doors, but the truth is many more doors will open to the right people.

When I chose to become more focused on a niche, it closed doors to some potential clients, but it opened doors to way more people and opportunities. Having a clear niche can activate a fear of missing out, and fear and worry that you may not get enough clients.

The coolest thing is when you step into the specificity of a niche, it helps convey to people specifically how you help them, which actually draws MORE people to you. It helps you to elaborate on a clear problem that you solve.

Being vague and non-specific does not work, especially in the attraction phase. If you want to level up your business to 6 figures, you need to have the willingness to solve a clear specific problem.

To do this means really stepping up in terms of the way you view yourself and position yourself as an expert and authority. It does require a level of courage to do this, especially if you are not feeling that confident yet.

A lot of coaches are creating content when they don’t have clarity on the problem they solve… and they are wondering why it’s not working for them. The lack of clarity will reflect on your marketing, and how you’re creating your content.

Once you make the decision to niche (even if you’re worried about it), you will find people respond better, because you are being clear on the specific problem you help people with and the way you journey people to the solution.

2 – Craft A Profitable Presentation

The next thing you need to do to consistently hit six figures, is to craft a profitable presentation. A profitable presentation is a very powerful asset.

Written content is important. But for most coaches, written content alone, like blogs, emails, and social media captions rarely is enough to attract clients consistently.

Written content alone doesn’t always inspire and influence someone to make a decision to work with you.  Unless you’re a really great writer, written content does a poor job of converting people consistently.

If you want people to trust you, you need time with them. In order to build trust, you need to ask for time, however long it takes for people to go from cold to sold.

The reason people give you time is that you offer to educate them. Otherwise how else are you going to get their time?

It’s very challenging to get more than 60 minutes of someone’s time on social media. So an online event is a win/ win scenario for both you and the person attending your online event.

To take someone from cold to sold, you must build trust and building trust requires someone having time with you.

You ask them to give you their time, and in return, you’ll give them education for free.

During this time with them, you’re building trust and showing them how you help people.

The most powerful strategy I’ve discovered for attracting clients is to combine great content with a great presentation.

Having an effective presentation:

  1. Keeps people’s attention
  2. Creates more trust
  3. Positions you as an authority
  4. Helps you overcome people’s false beliefs
  5. Inspires people to take action
  6. Is highly leveraged to save you time
  7. Builds your email list

Doing just one-on-one coaching doesn’t give you that leverage. When you’re willing to get on a platform, even if it’s a platform like Zoom online, immediately your authority level goes up.

In an online event Zoom event, you have time to shift people’s beliefs and objections to buying.

Rather than having 50 sales conversations which would take 50 hours of your time, you can have that same value speaking to 50 people all at once. Can you see how leveraged having a profitable presentation is?

It’s challenging to just keep doing one-on-one coaching and get to 6 figures annually. The fastest way to do it is by having a combination of having a profitable presentation and compelling content.

3 – Create Compelling Content

You can have an incredible program or service, but without compelling content, it’s like having a Porsche but leaving it in your garage. You won’t get very far.

The marketplace has shifted to be more education-based and the cool thing about this new marketplace is that if you enjoy teaching, training, and educating people, you’re in a good position to inspire people to take action.

People don’t really care about your product or program. They just want to know that you’re able to give them what they desire, and this is where you can show them that you’re the expert and you do this through educating them with your content.

You also do this by using your content to shift their beliefs. Your content needs to clearly show someone what you recommend in order to get from Point A to Point B. Which you’ll notice is what I’m doing right now in this blog.

Use your content to shift beliefs in your ideal clients from what they currently believe to what you want them to believe and educating them is key to this.

When you take the time to educate your clients, it can really dramatically shift your business.

When you create consistent content, you’re educating people on why you’re different. You’re also changing their beliefs from what they currently believe, to what you want them to believe. And you do this in order to have them take that next step to work with you.

Not doing this was a massive mistake that I made. (I made mistakes in all the 5 areas that I’m talking about today!)

I didn’t realise you need a formula and strategy to create compelling content that inspires action. I used to just wing it.

I would literally just write a blog, without having any structure or any formula.

I’d just show up and throw up (as they say.) I’d do Facebook Live videos that didn’t have a plan or proper structure.

The purpose of your content is to educate people and inspire them to take action.

4 – Build An Automated Funnel

When you’re building a coaching business to 6-figures, there are two distinct paths you can go down.

One is working manually, which means you just keeping up as best as you can with your never-ending to-do list.

Or, you can choose the second path, which is building a funnel, which is an asset.

A funnel is a path that people go through where they come into your email list by putting their name and email to access free content. You then take them through a process of nurturing them until they know, like, and trust you and then if they’re the right match, invite them to become your paid client.

This is what so many of your competitors are not doing because it takes some thought and learning, which can be scary or overwhelming. But it’s one of the most powerful ways to have a sustainable, successful business.

What so many coaches do is start their business manually, which is how most of us start out, but then they attempt for the rest of the business’s life to keep running it manually.

Using funnels to automate your business equals freedom.

If you haven’t already decided, please decide that you’re going to stop running your business manually.

Automation equals freedom.

This makes a huge difference in terms of the financial capacity and lifestyle your business can bring you. Rather than consuming and reacting, you create and build a profitable, scalable asset.

Because I know how to create funnels, I can be out running, get an idea, come home and have a funnel up online within a few hours.

It’s incredible because you can build a funnel that generates a lot of income without doing a lot of work.

If you don’t have an automated funnel in place, there’s only so far you can go.  Everything is capped. Your sales, your profit, your growth, your lifestyle – everything is limited.

Some people think it looks too hard, but what’s worse? Running a business that sucks the life and soul out of you, because you’re so stressed out and doing everything manually? Or taking the time to upskill and automate your business?

I use ClickFunnels for this, as I’ve found it’s one of the best landing page builders and funnel builders in the world, and I trust it. I’ve had people say to me they don’t want to pay for a subscription, but all you need to do is have one client and that pays for a whole year’s subscription.

I’ve got 20 different funnels working for me. I have webinar funnels, lead magnets, and my online courses hosted there also. This gives me so much freedom.

I love taking time to have holidays. I bought a timeshare over 10 years ago and if I didn’t have funnels in place, I wouldn’t be able to take so many holidays.

To me, taking the time to set up automation is a no-brainer. When you have a funnel in place, you no longer have peaks and troughs leaving money on the table.

But, when you build an automated funnel, you have the capacity to generate a consistent lead flow.

5 – Develop A High-Performance Mindset

To create a successful coaching business … and by success, I’m talking about a business that fills your bank account and your soul… you need to develop a high-performance mindset.

You have to constantly level up your mindset. A high-performance mindset is focused on taking charge of your life and business. It’s about being a leader.

You can’t wait for a miracle, a sign, a rescuer, or a lucky break. You have to create it yourself. It starts with being intentional about what you want from your life and then building your business around that.

It’s really important that you figure out what you want in your ideal life, and then take actions towards making that come true. From there, you can put the proper structures in place.

You can’t wait for a rescuer or a lucky break. You have to create your opportunities yourself and that starts with being intentional.

Structures create outcomes.

Having structures like systems, strategy, and support in place is what builds a sustainable business around your vision.

Hustling 16 hours a day might sound impressive, but it’s not healthy. Manageability is crucial. And this always starts with your mindset.

When I started out, I acted like I was a 6-figure business owner before I had the money in the bank. I believed so deeply that it would happen for me, and because of that, I was able to step into the mindset of a 6-figure business owner and take action as they would.

Back then when I made investments, hired team members, or made any major decisions around my business, I always asked myself what would a 6-figure business owner do?  Then I did that.

This meant never accepting anything less than everything I want.

A high-performance mindset is willing to take risks. It’s an abundance mindset. It’s charging what you’re worth, not allowing yourself to stress out about money, and knowing that there are always clients.

You have to believe that you’re going to find a way to make things work.  You can’t play safe or be timid. You’ve got to make quick decisions and put yourself out there.

I see so many Facebook groups where people are saying they are looking for someone to contribute to their book or to speak at events. There will be hundreds of people putting their hand up, and I wonder why these people aren’t putting out their own books and sharing their knowledge in their own events.

It’s not that hard to do. It’s just about being willing to do it.

You’ve got to take risks. You’ve got to know your ‘why’. It’s about deciding specifically who you want to serve, how you want to spend your time (based on what you enjoy), and how you want your business to feel.

I fully trust in my work ethic, I trust myself and back myself.

I know that I’m going to make a way, even if there does not look like there is a way. I’m going to find a way to make things work. I don’t play safe. I’m not afraid to put myself out there, even though I don’t always feel confident.

That’s what high-performance business owners do.

When you get off the merry-go-round of chasing quick fixes, and step from a place of scarcity into an abundance mindset, you will create something truly great in this world.

In order to go faster, sometimes we need to slow down and learn a different way of doing things.

The most IMPORTANT thing you can do this week to level up your business

If you want to scale up your business, you’re probably doing a lot of things in your business right now.

Posting, emails, research, hanging out in Facebook Groups, writing blogs. There’s a lot of activity as a business owner.

The question is, is it getting you new clients consistently? And if it’s not, what do you need to do differently to get different results?

Level up means different things to different people. What does level up your business mean to you?

For some people, it means upskilling in their sales, in marketing and presenting, their copywriting…

Level up for others means leaving their job and going full time in their business.

For some people, levelling up means that they are bringing on a new team member or creating a new funnel or system.

It might mean achieving your freedom figure – the amount of money that you want to earn every single month so you have freedom and don’t have to work in a job…

…then you can have that impact that you really want to make in the world.

What’s the next thing you want to achieve in your business?

Think about this… there are things that you need to do in your business, right now, that you don’t know how to do that someone else knows how to do.

We can all waste so much time trying to figure out things on our own.

I’ve come up against some things recently that I have been really stuck on. I couldn’t believe that I was really struggling with a Facebook ad and I couldn’t get it to get accepted. It would keep going back into the ad and it kept getting rejected.

For some reason, I didn’t reach out to a business group that I’ve paid for a membership for. I just didn’t even think to reach out to them. And then I finally did. I said I really need help on this. I’ve been trying everything trying to figure it out on my own. And they came straight back to me with the answer.

It was interesting how much I tried to figure that out on my own when I could actually reach out and ask for help and receive it.

Also, another yearly membership to a business group I’m part of came up for renewal at the start of this month.

I’m already part of two other programs plus have a coach, so I was thinking about whether I wanted to stay in it or not.

As it got closer to the expiry date, I felt fear pop up that I would miss out on their specific skills.

When I noticed that emotion I thought “What is it worth to have that extra certainty that I can get more help when I’m stuck?”

I remembered something important.

When I wanted to win bodybuilding contests, I worked with people who had won trophies.⠀

When I wanted to earn $10K+ months consistently, I worked with people who had already achieved that income.

If we don’t keep investing in people who have done what we want to do, we won’t keep growing.

What usually happens is that when we don’t know how to do something, we stop doing it. We go and do something else. And there are things that have been holding us back from a lot for a long time because we’ve got stuck.

Whether it’s somewhere in our funnel or somewhere in our sales process. Or maybe it’s something to do with our website or Facebook ad.

I’ve had three people reach out to me this week, and say that they needed feedback. I help people make-over their content and web pages.

One lady needed a website overhaul and a social media strategy and we got that done in 2x 90 minutes sessions.

Another lady reached out to me and said, “I don’t know why I’m not getting clients.” I looked at her branding and it was impeccable. It all looks amazing. But as I started to go through it, I realised that her messaging was not clear. She was trying to reach too many people … and she’s missing them all. I could see exactly what her problem was.

She could have kept churning out content and it wouldn’t have gotten results because she hasn’t stepped back and crafted exactly who her ideal client is and their specific pain points. She was being super vague.

Sometimes because we don’t look beyond ourselves and what we know, we can miss opportunities to grow.

Changing your business and changing your life, it’s always going to be preceded by awareness of something you haven’t seen in yourself up to that point.

You might know what to do, but you haven’t seen how to actually apply it in your business.

A lot of people say to me, “I know what I should be doing. I know that I need to be doing more content… improving my copywriting skills… doing more videos.” But they don’t have the clear steps of exactly what to do, a formula.

YOU OVERCOME FEAR WITH A FORMULA

You overcome fear with a formula when you’ve got the steps and you know how to apply those big picture principles like send emails, or the things that you know that you should be doing in business, but you’re not taking action on. Often, it’s because you haven’t seen exactly what to do and how to apply it to your own personal business.

A lot of us want to transform things in our business but before the transformation, there needs to come a recognition that something’s broken.

And because we can’t see ourselves, we don’t know what we look like to others.

It was interesting when I was doing this website make-over. I was looking at her LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, I could see so many things that she was doing, I could see the holes – it’s one of my genius zones or whatever you want to call it. One thing I can say is I can quickly pick up where people are going wrong.

Think about it like this. You eat a salad at one o’clock for lunch at a cafe with some friends. Then you go and get your nails done. Then you have some meetings and go shopping. You get home, let’s say 6pm, you look in the mirror and there’s like a big piece of kale in your teeth.

So between one o’clock and six o’clock you’ve talked to maybe 12 people and you think, “Why did not someone tell me?” You couldn’t see it.

And this is the thing I really want you to get – you cannot change what you cannot see.

I heard about a really influential leader who said, “I want to ask a question of the people that I lead. What’s it like to be on the other side of me?” And that’s a good question.

Have you ever thought about what it’s like to be on the other side of you?

We all have blind spots because we don’t know what it’s like to be on the other side of ourselves. We don’t know what it’s like to deal with us. We don’t know what it’s like to have a conversation with us.

We’ve watched ourselves on video, maybe we see ourselves in the mirror, but we actually don’t know what it’s like to be our friend or our coach.

One of my Inner Circle clients is a Parenting Coach. She helps parents with big picture parenting and her and I were chatting about the fact that a lot of parents don’t have a plan for their parenting.

And so they might say, “Oh well, I’m a great parent.” But how do they know? They’ve never parented yourself.

Or, they might say, “My marriage is good”, but how do they know? They’ve not been married to themselves.

So if you’re going to transform your business you need to see things differently from how you see them now. How you see yourself now is not how other people see yourself.

Think about this: every moment of every day, our brain gets bombarded with information which we process, and this becomes our perception and our experience.

I remember learning in my NLP training that we have coming into our system, approximately 11 million bits of information per second. I just couldn’t get my head around that. I don’t know if you can even try and fathom 11 million bits of information. But as a processing unit our brain can only process around 126 bits of information.

So, we’ve got 11 million bits coming in. Our brain can only process 126. So how do we decide which bits to pick?

Imagine a big pile of  11 million matches. I can’t even fathom that, but imagine there is a big field full of 11 million matches, and your brain, in a second or millisecond pulls out just 126. Think about how many are left … 10,999,874 bits of information are left that your brain didn’t pull out.

If I pulled out my 126 matches, they’re going to be different bits of information based on our beliefs and experiences, our upbringing, our filters our perception of reality, what’s important to us, etc. That’s why when you buy a nice top, you begin to see that top everywhere in the shops.

So the odds are you’re going to pick up different bits of information to someone else.

So when you think about how much you’re missing out, how much you’re not seeing and how much you’re not experiencing, it’s crucial as business owners, that you know the task to pull out that you could be doing in business, which are going to have the greatest impact.

We need to know the tasks that are going to have the greatest impact and we can’t usually see that the challenges ourselves. We need someone else from the outside to actually show them to us.

How do we differentiate the test of high impact and low impact? Well, the first thing we need to do is we need to decide what impact means. You may want to base your impact on your monthly or quarterly income goal.

So, determine which tasks in your business, of the hundreds of things that you could be doing, are going to bring the most in income.

Some people think it’s either increasing their income or it’s helping people. They actually go together. You can’t increase your income without helping people.

And if you’re charging what you’re worth, you can’t help people without increasing your income. They go together too, because business is about providing value. If what you do genuinely improves the quality of someone’s life, then the more impact you make, the more income you receive because they really do go together.

So there’s nothing wrong with having income as a priority, because that’s a direct reflection of how many people you’re serving, and helping.

It’s also important that if income is a priority, that marketing and sales are the most important activities you can be doing.

And by marketing, I don’t mean making your brand colours pretty. I don’t mean fluffing about on Canva, lining up every photo. I don’t mean writing a blog for three hours so only your Mum and your best friend read it ,but not actually driving any traffic to it. Those are not impact-driven activities.

We can all get stuck in those things because the brain loves the path of least resistance.

So often those 126 bits of information that are picked from the 11 million bits are the easy things, the safe things, the comfortable things. But if you’re not good at sales and marketing, the priority is skill acquisition on those two things – improving your marketing and sales skills has to become a top priority until you’re getting a return on your investment of the time that you’re putting in.

The lady that I was working with before was sharing that she is getting a lot of leads coming in so that she actually had to turn her ads off. The problem is she’s not converting them. So I said to her that her priority has to be sales right now as well as sales conversations. She can’t keep pulling people in if she doesn’t know how to convert.

So she needs to stop the marketing and focus on sales.

If you’re not getting any sales, if you look at your calendar right now and you looked at the next week or two, how many sales conversations have you got booked in? If you don’t have enough sales calls booked in in order to meet your monthly income target, then that’s got to be your priority – marketing, client attraction. lead generation.

These have got to be your priority and not the things that are just passive things, but the things that are directly going to lead to people booking into your calendar.

So often, we don’t see this ourselves. We don’t see what we don’t see.

So my question to you is: whose eyes are currently on your business, showing you the most important things to do?

Because if you’re not experienced in business, or you haven’t hit 10k months consistently, for example, do you want the opinion of friends around your business? Or do you want people who have successfully done what you want to do looking at your business.

I’m sure you’ve done business courses before. But if your business is not where you want it to be, it’s not just that you’re not applying what you’ve learned.

Here’s the distinction.

People think I learned all this stuff, I’m just not doing it. That’s not it. The reason you’re not where you want to be is you don’t know exactly how to apply it to your business right now. You don’t know the next steps, because otherwise you’d be doing them. So there is something missing.

And if you’re not levelling up, you don’t know the exact steps to take that are going to make the most impact and that are going to give you the results that you want.

There’s a quote that I love that says, “We can’t see the picture when we’re inside the frame.”

We can’t see that kale in our teeth when we’re looking at someone else.

So the most important thing you can do this week to level up your business is to get an expert perspective, to get someone’s eyes on your business. It’s the fastest thing if you think about it. Businesses scale up fast because they have strapped themselves to a fast moving vehicle.

Someone who knows what they’re doing or a company that knows what they’re doing. They’re not reinventing the wheel and trying to figure it all out themselves. And that’s how you grow your business and scale your business fast!

So if you’re stuck in your business, right now, the way to speed it up is to reach out to someone who can help you with that thing that you’re stuck on, the most impactful thing related to your most impactful goal. And whether that’s an income goal, or an impact goal, or both.

What’s essential for leveling up is to get someone’s eyes on your business that has done what you need to do. It’s called ‘Standing on the Shoulders of Giants’.

I had a cassette series when I was a teenager called ‘Standing on the Shoulders of Giants’. Did you have that? It was of Les Brown and some other motivational speakers. I remember that concept just clicking with me. This made me think if someone else has done it, then I can do it too.

But I need help. I can’t just try and figure it out myself. So I’ve invested around $145,000 now on education, and that is the single most thing that’s given me success. There’s no way that I’d be full-time, earning six figures a year in my business if I hadn’t have reached out and got expert help directly on my business.

So if you want to level up your business to $10K a month or more, not just as a one-off, but consistently, there’s a strategy to that. But you can’t learn that strategy if no one’s ever showing you exactly what to do.

It requires a willingness to get an expert’s perspective on your business, because your business is unique. And once you know the strategy, you stop wondering where your clients are going to come from, and you start getting predictable results, which is what we need in business. We don’t want to just be trialing things all the time and of course, there are going to be things that don’t work.

There are always risks in business of things that don’t work, but why not get a strategy that you know someone else has used over and over with many people and it works.

When you have a strategy that works, and it’s reliable, and you can trust in it, it becomes a repeatable system and you don’t have to keep trying all these different things.

If you’re not in Sydney and you want to get expert eyes on your business this week to move past your business problems, email me and we’ll arrange a time to chat.

And if you are in Sydney, and if you want to level up your business, I’ve gotten together with one of my business masterminds, (which we call ourselves the ‘Success Inner Circle’) and we’ve decided to create an event teaching the strategy.

Check out the Level Up event here

Together we’ve delivered over 8,500 coaching sessions between us and we’ve run over 300 events between us. So we know how to attract clients consistently based on our experience. We’ve designed an exact action plan that you can use to scale your business systematically.

We’re running an event on the 19th of June sharing how you can sign up your ideal clients consistently with a proven, reliable system.

Click the link here to find out more.

How Successful Business Owners Multiply Their Income Without Doing More

A lot of people think that growing your business faster means…

being way busier…

creating more content…

starting at 6am, finishing at midnight…

A lot of businesses fail because people get burned out.

They get overwhelmed, they lose momentum because they’re not growing, they’re doing everything they know how to do, and it’s really frustrating.

Over the last five years helping business owners to grow their business, I’ve discovered something important.

Instead of doing more, you need to be super focused on doing the right things.

I’m going to give you some things here that you can do to multiply your success without adding a whole lot of time.

People get stuck in endless research and trying too many new things, which creates resentment and burnout.

What they don’t realise, is we need to build sustainably by doubling down on what’s working and doing it better, rather than addition.

Successful entrepreneurs have discovered they can achieve a whole lot more by actually doing less. But it requires a specific approach to managing your time and eliminating tasks that don’t lead to great results.

You need to rise up and look at the business from a higher view in the ‘clouds’ and stop getting stuck in the ‘weeds’.

Some people might think that in order to double their income, they need to double their working hours, but that’s not how to do it. If you want to get a consistent $10,000 a month, you don’t have to necessarily do more.

Instead, you need to choose a few strategies that are working and go deeper with them.

It’s about doing the right things properly. It’s about levelling up.

If your business isn’t growing at the moment, it’s because there are gaps in your skills or knowledge.

And you need to uplevel the area that you are lacking in, either your mindset, skills or knowledge.

I’ve had people say to me that they know what they should be doing, but don’t do it. If that’s the case, there’s a gap in your mindset.

One way you can save time is to automate.

There are 4 ways to automating your business. I call it the CIAO model.

C – Create Something

The first step is to create something and release it. Test it and get feedback. Make sure it’s valuable and helpful to your ideal clients.

I –  Improve It

Once you’ve created it, then up-level it. For example, for a webinar it could be tweaking your slides, changing the order of your content, having a clearer or more valuable offer. You may do this multiple times.

You don’t want to automate something until you’ve refined it. You get better and better, you test it in the marketplace and make sure people want it and like it.

A – Automate It

Once you’ve improved it and you’re happy with it, you can automate it. You put it into a system.

For example, with a webinar, you would create a funnel that looks like this

Step 1. Opt-in page explaining the benefits of a webinar

2. Broadcast room where people watch the evergreen webinar

3. Sign-up page to your offer.

This is how you automate that whole sequence.

This is just one example of automation.

O – Outsource It

Once it’s automated, you can then outsource it.

It’s important that you have a thorough understanding of your product and the processes of automation before you outsource it to someone.

This is just one example of how to free up more time in your business so you can multiply your income without doing more.

The CIAO method is a simple 4-step model that you can use in all areas of your business in order to multiply.

It’s really important in your business that you maintain control, that you know how to tweak things in your business before you outsource them. It’s key that you learn marketing yourself and not just pass it on to someone else.

I know someone who paid $5000 for someone to do marketing for them, but they had no control. Communication was really bad between this person and the person they had paid to do the marketing, so there was a great deal of frustration.

If your business isn’t growing, it’s time to look at how you’re doing things, not just what you’re doing.

Just because you’ve created a system like posting twice a week, or you send an email once a week, or you write a blog once a week, it doesn’t mean that’s all the work done. You need to keep up-levelling and improving the way you do each of these things.

To level up in your business, it means looking at your business as a pipeline and finding the leakages where things are draining out.

You then need to ask yourself how you will plug those gaps so you have a steady stream of consistent clients who are really well nurtured and looked after, and who get great results. People who get great transformations then refer their friends.

4 Things To Level Up In Your Business

There are 4 things I recommend that you level up in your business. To level up, you don’t need to just add more products, or create other things. More often it’s about up-levelling the quality of what you’re doing. Every single area of your business can be tweaked which can multiply your results.

There are 4 main things that I recommend you consider when you want to uplevel your business.

1 – Level Up Your Strategies

If you’ve been using the same strategies and you’re not growing, then you need to do something different. As Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

If you’re writing blogs, posting on social media

If you’ve been sending out an email with your blog every single week, and you’re still not getting clients, then you might need to uplevel that strategy. You either need to improve your writing so that your writing is more engaging. Or you might need to uplevel your copywriting skills.

If your social media posts aren’t really getting engagement, they’re not getting people to actually book into your calendar, for example, or to click through to your landing page, then you need to uplevel your content skills.

If you’re sending out emails every week, but you’re not getting many people opening them, you need to uplevel your ability to create good subject lines and great content that gets click-throughs.

Ultimately, you’re not going to get people book into your calendar or have people come into your landing pages and order forms if your copy is not attracting people, so it’s super important that you uplevel your strategy.

2 – Level Up Your Skills

The second thing to look at is to uplevel your skills.

If you’re regularly posting on social media and sending emails but not getting people book in for calls, you may need to up-level your skill of inspiring someone to take action.

It’s one thing to share content, another to inspire someone to take action and make decisions. Inspiring someone to take action is about how you craft your language.

Or maybe you’re good at getting people to book into your strategy sessions but you find it hard to convert them into paying clients. So then your influence skills are needing to be levelled up.

Any time that your business isn’t growing, it’s time to look at your skills such as copywriting, marketing, sales, presenting, technology and automation. All of these skills need to be up-levelled to increase your income.

The best part is they all can be learned. All skills are learnable and anyone can learn them.

 3 – Level Up Systems

You also want to look at your systems. Let’s say you’re sending manual emails, you might want to change from manual emails to automated emails. If this is the case, you need to learn email automation.

Or you might change from using more of a beginner website like Wix or Squarespace, and upgrade it to WordPress.

You might be chasing people via email or sending invoices manually, and you actually want to go from manual, clunky old-school, to actually automating that whole process, so you need to learn these skills.

Then you can remove yourself more from those things and actually focus on what you’re really good at. Successful business owners spend their time in their genius zone.

You have unique brilliance that you’re really good at. And the more time you spend in that genius zone, the more money you’re going to make. You can outsource things you’re doing that other people can be doing.

I’ve got 3 assistants and they do tasks that free up time to be doing things that only I can do in my business, like content creation and videos and creating automated funnels.

You always want to be thinking if someone else can be doing the task you’re doing.

What systems can you put in place to free up your time so that you can multiply your income?

A lot of entrepreneurs spend their time posting so much content that just leads nowhere. And they don’t have a systemised funnel in their business.

A lot of what people do can be done in a more automated way.

4 – Uplevel Your Support

There’s nothing more valuable in business than having the support of a community around you who will hold you to a higher standard.

A supportive coach and community can give you clarity, direction, feedback, and accountability.

Accountability is the number 1 thing that’s helped me grow my business. Without having support and guidance from people who’ve achieved what I wanted to achieve, I wouldn’t have been able to build a six-figure income and help the amount of people I have.

If you don’t immerse yourself in an environment of growth, with expert eyes looking over your business, it’s so hard to grow.

I never launch anything without having people look over it and give me feedback.

I love what Eric Schmidt, the Google CEO says, and that is that the one thing that people are never good at, is seeing themselves as other people see them.

You can’t see the whole picture when you’re inside the frame. So support gives you that perspective, which ultimately gives you that acceleration.

Successful business owners multiply their income by up-levelling their strategies, skills, systems, and support.

Are you ready to level up in your business and attract more people who want to invest in your services?

Do you want to get answers to questions and increase your finances, fulfilment and freedom in your life?

If you’re a business owner in Sydney, I’m super excited to share an event that I’m running with two other speakers, Gez Perez and Mark Flores to bring you the Level Up event.

Check out the Level Up event here

We decided we wanted to run a 1-day event that is just giving away pure value all day, we’re not selling anything. We know that it’s really hard to up-level on your own.

This event is for you if you want to build a pipeline of consistent, ideal clients and scale your business up to 10k months consistently. It’s designed to take you out of a plateau and get you momentum again.

If you want to become a sought-after trusted leader or expert in your industry, it’s not about spending more time hustling.

It’s about your willingness to follow a proven step-by-step process that works.

When you’ve got the right systems, you can breathe, because the systems are doing the work for you, as opposed to you trying to do it all yourself, and getting overwhelmed and burned out.

If you want clarity, direction, and the exact steps to take in your business, and if you’re ready to scale up to $10K+ months consistently, and want to connect with entrepreneurs and other like-minded people, this is for you.

Check out the Level Up event here

We’d love to see you there!

What I Wish I’d Known When I First Started Out In Business

In business, we all make mistakes. I’ve made hundreds… and some were absolute pearlers.

When I first started out in business 18-years ago, I didn’t have any qualifications, business knowledge, or money. I just had a lot of enthusiasm, drive, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed.

I was much younger, more stubborn, and ignorant back then. I look back and see how much faster I could have propelled my growth if only I knew what I know now.

Making mistakes is normal and it’s one of the ways we learn and grow. But there are some mistakes that are unnecessary and waste precious time, money, and energy.

So I’m going to share with you how to avoid some of the mistakes that can trip you up and fail and what to do instead.

Here are the top 5 things I wish I’d know when I first started out in business…

1 – The Value Of Investing In Coaching and Mentoring

A mistake I made when I started out, was that I didn’t value other people’s input who had been in business longer than me.

If someone asks why I’m successful – it’s hard work, a strong work ethic and dedication etc. but the number 1 reason absolutely comes down to investing in coaching and mentoring.

When I was younger,  I was so stubborn and naive.

I started my first job in insurance when I was 17 as an office junior (earning a whopping $17,000 a year)

I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do, I just wanted freedom when I left high school.

When I was 25, I left my office job when I decided to become a personal trainer. I didn’t know anything about sales or marketing.

I could have seeked help from the experienced personal trainers at the gym I worked at. I could have taken them for coffee to ask for their advice. But I didn’t. Maybe I thought I knew everything. ?

I wish I knew the power of mentorship and coaching back then.

One of my favourite mentors says the fastest way to succeed in business is to attach yourself to a fast-moving vehicle, and do what they’re doing. Stand on the shoulders of giants and don’t try and reinvent the wheel.

Once I realised the power that they bring you, I’ve always had multiple coaches and mentors.

Some people say to just have one mentor or one mentor per year. Everyone’s different, it’s totally dependent on your style, personality, and character. I invest in multiple. I’m coach-greedy.

Without mentoring and coaching, I would not be where I am today.

The CEO of Google has a coach. Every great athlete, ca,tor or actress will have people around them that are supporting them and coaching them. If they need coaching and mentoring, then so do we.

2 – The Value Of Networking

When I started out in business I was so such an introvert.  I hid behind my laptop and my phone. In fact, some people that knew me back 10 to 12 years ago, would say they knew a completely different person.

A lot of people who knew me back then have been telling me lately that they have seen my transformation. Anyone can change. Even if you are an introvert, you can get out there and network. I never used to network, in fact, I hated it.

When I moved from New Zealand to London, I realised that I desperately needed to improve my communication skills and my confidence, so I read books on the plane. I bought books on how to become confident. And I learned one very important thing. I learned that you don’t get confident from reading books.

You become confident by getting out there and confronting your fears. Confidence is a by-product of being competent.

When you’re facing the fears of things that challenge you, you’re moving to your next level and outside of your comfort zone. When you do that, confidence comes like a gift and a reward for doing hard things.

Networking for a lot of you is not easy, and you feel like you’re not good at it. I network a lot and some people are really bad at it! They are not present, not listening, and not hearing what you have to say. They are half distracted.

You only get good at networking by doing it. When I started networking, I would hang around the food table because it was my comfort. It was like a blanket. Now, I try and meet as many people as I can.

I don’t give out business cards. That’s one mistake people make. I was at an event recently and I went home with a stack of business cards. I don’t have business cards and haven’t had them for eight years. I don’t have them because I like making contact with the other person.

When I was a personal trainer, I handed out hundreds and hundreds of business cards. Let’s be honest, most business cards end up in the bin. I only keep people’s business cards if I make a connection with the person.

If you’re not putting yourself out there, and networking, now is the time to do it. Because of the pandemic, people are now getting out and the energy is amazing. I can feel my energy has shifted so much since I started going to more live events.

Have a look at Meetup.com or Eventbrite as there are a bunch of events happening. Challenge yourself to get out there and network. The only way you get better is by doing it.

3 – The Value Of Investing

My third mistake was not realising the value of investing in my business. I used to try and hold on to money, whereas I’ve come to the point where I invest, because that’s the way to grow.

I invest in 3 main things – marketing, coaching and education.

You don’t get wealthy by saving money.  You get wealthy by getting your money working for you. And so, I love investing money into marketing, like Facebook ads.

I also love putting money into education. I’ve spent over $130,000 on education, not on formal education, but through learning specific skills.

Back when I started in business, I wish I had known the value of investing in marketing, sales copywriting, and coaching skills. I never used to think of copywriting as an essential business skill. I just thought I could put up a post and people were going to sign up.

Copywriting is one of the most undervalued, underrated skills, but being able to write well is one of the most important skills.

Knowing how to craft your language in a way that is compelling and attracts your right clients is a skill and it’s one that is worth investing in.

In the past, I’ve printed off flyers but now I mostly do all my marketing online because it enables you to track and see the ROI on your marketing dollar and investment.

If you’re starting out in business or you are struggling in business, you always need to be investing.

4 – The Value Of Daily Income Generating Activities

All of us do low-value tasks. We are human. Our brain is wired to take the path of least resistance.

Our brain is wired to keep us safe, so it doesn’t easily accept change. We naturally want to follow the path of least resistance. It’s really natural for us to do the easy things.

You know you need to go to the gym, but you stay watching Netflix. It’s normal so please don’t beat yourself up. This is not about making you feel guilty.

I do want to challenge you and encourage you to spend a good proportion of your time on income-generating activities. Ideally, do them every morning.

Instead of waking up and consuming on social media, create something. Delete apps off your phone if you need to. I have recently deleted the email app off my phone so I don’t waste time on it.

One of the easiest ways to change a habit is to just remove it. I always taught my clients this when I was a weight loss coach. At the time I was helping people change their habits. I would tell them that they needed to remove everything unhealthy from their house, so they didn’t get tempted.

If you’ve got a problem with sugar, don’t put things with sugar into your shopping trolley. Make up healthy packs of veggies or nuts and keep them in your bag. Don’t end up buying crappy food because you’ve gotten stuck out somewhere without being prepared.

It’s the same thing with business. Remove all things that take you away from income-generating activities. Are you tracking your sales conversion rates?  Are you showing up and giving value rather than just consuming?

Entrepreneurs show up and give value and help others solve problems. Entrepreneurs do income-generating activities.

I wish I knew that earlier because I spent way too long faffing about making my PowerPoint slides look amazing.

5 -The Value Of Fast Decision Making

Do you fall into the trap of perfectionism?

None of us wants to make mistakes in our work. We don’t want to fail.

But overcoming perfectionism is not about doing rushed or sloppy work. There’s a difference between perfectionism and excellence.

Striving for excellence shows you have a good work ethic and strength of character.

Perfectionism is the enemy of progress. And the reality is, nothing is ever perfect. ⠀⠀

Getting something out there, (even if it’s not ‘just right’) is better than it sitting on your laptop or in your head, not helping anyone.⠀ ⠀⠀

I’ve never done a Facebook Live or webinar or an event and been 100% happy with how it’s gone. There are always things to improve.

If we want to grow as entrepreneurs, we need to value speed. Perfectionism can be a handbrake on our success. It keeps us from accelerating. We don’t have time to be afraid of mistakes.

As one of my mentors says, get it out there ‘quick and dirty’ and learn from it.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of delaying our decisions and let things pile up. Then we get overwhelmed by how much we need to do.

I was challenged in an event recently to write down 5 decisions we’ve been putting off, and decide when we’re going to do it.

I calculated that if I live until the average age, I have approximately 2000 weeks left of my life. Only 2000 weeks! I plan on living longer than this, but none of us are promised a set amount of time. So I don’t want to waste a second of the time I have left on the planet.

What have you been putting off? I invite you to write down one thing NOW and make a decision on when you’re going to do it.

Content That Gets You Likes Vs Content That Gets You Clients

There is a big difference between content that gets you likes, and content that gets you clients.

And it’s not just the dollars that come with gaining clients. I have discovered 3 simple tricks that will make your content 100% more compelling.

Content that gets you likes may be interesting and entertaining. It might be a little educational.

But there are depths and layers that we can add to our content, which inspires people to actually take action as a result of reading your content, and this is our ability to influence through our content.

Influence is the ability to inspire someone to take action to get more of what they want. To influence someone, you have to go deeper into their subconscious mind.

Lots of people are producing content, creating videos and getting themselves out there online now, but not many people have a solid, consistent, client database and income.

Success is not about just people liking and commenting on your posts. The most successful people actually aren’t spending all this time on social media checking likes and checking comments.

The most successful people are too busy servicing their clients to worry about that.

Once you know how to create influential content that is compelling, your whole world expands and opportunities open for you.

It doesn’t mean you’re better, it just means that people position you and see you differently. More people contact you to speak on their podcast or in their Facebook group. That’s what happened when I shifted my live events online.

When I was started shifting all my events online, I had many invites to speak to various groups and on podcasts. This was because I was consistently showing up.  I was willing to consistently show up with content that influenced.

I challenged myself to not just create ‘How To’ content or ‘Step by Step’ content, but to go deeper into people’s subconscious mind, because that’s how you influence. When you understand the drivers below the surface logic, then you can get more people booked into your calendar for strategy sessions and discovery calls.

Influential content is crafting your words in a way that makes people want to take action, and take that next step towards actually working with you.

Whenever I put out a new blog or a new video, or send a new email,  I’ve really crafted it and thought about the how to make it compelling and influential. Typically people reach out to me and book into my calendar or webinars, or they contact me privately.

Crafting influential content works. You don’t have to have 1000’s of people on your mailing list, you just need to know how to influence people.

When you have developed the skill of influence, people will reach out to you for PR opportunities and for joint venture opportunities.

You will find the whole world opens up to you and it’s not by chance. It’s because you know how to arrange your words in a way that speaks at the subconscious mind.

It’s about knowing how to awaken desires within people, to make them want to learn more, and motivate people to move away from their pain.

Credibility doesn’t come from just having knowledge. They say knowledge is power, but it’s actually only potential power. Credibility comes from getting people results.

When people want to succeed, they seek advice from people who get results and who are further along in the journey than themselves. It’s not just about teaching something to people, it’s about your ability to communicate your value so that someone wants to follow you because you get results.

1 – Influential Content Is Conversational And Natural

Influential content needs to be conversational and natural. People want simplicity and they want something they can understand easily.

People are influenced when they trust you. Who do we trust the most? We trust the people closest to us. We trust certain family members, our friends, our partner, our close peers.

If we’re not being our natural selves, our content can sound formal, when we wouldn’t speak that way with our friends or family if we were chatting over a coffee.

When you create content, you need to speak to your clients as though you are speaking to a trusted family member or friend.

We also do this when we get on video. I look back at my first Facebook Live and I cringe! I was so unnatural. It’s not easy to be yourself when you get a camera in front of you.

When things are not natural and they are hard to read, or when you sound like a robot, your readers lose interest quickly and they scroll on by. So you want to write like you’re just sharing to a friend and write in a conversational tone.

That is what makes it influential. We are more influenced by our friends than we are by a marketer online, or by a business person online.  We’re influenced by the people that we trust and the people that are closest to us.

Forget what you learned in English, in terms of things having to be in perfect grammar. When you write as you speak, your writing is going to be more influential and you’re going to be ahead of most people,  so keep it casual.

2 – Influential Content  Speaks To The Subconscious Mind

There was a study done by Harvard, that shows that over 90% of our buying decisions are made by our subconscious mind. When you think about buying, it’s all about influence.

When you buy something, it’s because you’re influenced in some way by the colour, shape, the words or the sound. Something influenced us to buy it. So if you want to influence people,  the most essential business skill you can have is to be able to speak to the unconscious mind.

We do this by understanding the real drivers of human behavior. It’s not logic. It’s connecting with the pain, desires, values, shadow values, beliefs, and things that go beyond our logic.

For example, status is one of the 7 desires that I spoke about in the last training. The need to increase our status by something we buy is a strong driver. People are asking themselves if what they are buying will increase their status.

Other drivers could be the appearance of intelligence, looking smart, appearing powerful, being wealthy, or it could be something altruistic, like doing kind deeds. If you want to influence people, you need to understand these subconscious drivers of human behavior.

When we purchase something, we often aren’t thinking logically. It’s like doing a bungee jump. You don’t think through it as though you are going to get different benefits of it. You don’t think through the pros and cons of doing a bungee jump.

When I decided to do a bungee jump, I wanted to feel the thrill and the freedom of throwing myself off a bridge. I wanted to feel brave and courageous.

It wasn’t a logical decision. It made zero sense to throw myself off a bridge. My Mum was absolutely mortified and said she wouldn’t throw herself off a bridge if someone paid her $500 million!

But yet, I chose to jump, even though it made no logical sense because it actually is not logical.  It was so scary. There were not many benefits. But I was driven to do it.

Influential content speaks to the side of someone that’s driving them, the side where they’ll find the money, they’ll find the way, they’ll find the resources that they need to make it happen.

If I think about the programs that I’ve invested in to teach me with my business, the most expensive one was $17,000.

I had no money at the time and I had 3 credit cards full of debt. I think now that it was such an illogical decision to put myself in another $17,000 worth of debt, but I didn’t think of it like that. I thought of it like an investment into my future.

I’m so glad I wasn’t logical because that was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever invested into. It gave me an NLP certification which absolutely changed my life and the way I think about myself and the world. It gave me a life coaching certification, speaker training certification, and a business certification.

I have seen a massive return on investment because I’ve made way more than $17,000 back from that investment. It was illogical, but it felt right, because the person who sold it to me influenced me, because he pushed on those values. He helped open my future vision of myself to be a successful business owner.

So too,  you can deliver content that goes straight to those core needs. And remember, it’s about emotion, not logic. When you learn to speak to the subconscious, it transforms your content completely.

3 –  Influential Content Speaks Directly To A Person’s Pain And Desires

Influential content speaks directly to a person’s pain and desires and this is how we wake up the emotions. You really need to know your ideal client and speak directly to them.

You can’t expect people to be influenced by your content if you don’t understand them. And you’ve got to speak their language and know specifically what pain areas they have.

What are their fears, frustrations, and struggles in their life right now? Then you need to articulate their pain to them exactly in a way they would say it.

We used to get taught paraphrasing. When you’re having a conversation you do open listening and you paraphrase back to the person what you heard and you repeat it back exactly how they said it. So if someone said they want to get rid of a muffin top, you wouldn’t say, “Oh, so you want to get toned obliques?”

You would repeat back using their exact language.

You’ve got to use your ideal client’s exact language. And to do that, you have to get to know your target market. And you do this by having lots of conversations with your ideal clients. I’ve done hundreds of free sessions with people who are ideal clients so I could learn their language, their pain points, and their desires.

So there you have it, the difference between content that gets you likes, and content that gets you clients.
