4 Crucial Keys To Attracting Coaching Clients Consistently

One of the biggest mistakes I see a lot of business owners making when it comes to attracting clients is a lack of focus.

Trying to do too many things, and nothing is really making any significant difference.

When I first started my business, I used to sit at my laptop every morning and before long, I’d have lots of tabs open, and I’d be researching.

I’d be going down rabbit holes and consuming way too much of other people’s content … instead of creating my own.

If you want to stop wasting time on all those things that don’t make a significant difference in your business, it’s time to strip it all back to what really works.

Everything gets a whole lot simpler when you focus solely on the things that matter.

To have a sustainable business, you’ve got to simplify and only be focusing on a few solid strategies that work.

Then you can really trust that your business will continue to provide abundantly for you.

If you want a business where you make 10k or more every month, and make a big difference in people’s lives, there are 4 powerful methods that I recommend.

Only four.  These are the exact strategies that I personally use. And they’re the only FOUR things that got me to 6-figures in the first 12 months of going full-time in my coaching business.

You can check out the video here…

Here are the 4 Crucial Keys
1. Content Strategy

The first thing you need to attract clients consistently, is a content strategy.

A content strategy is a non-negotiable. It’s not an option. Every coach who wants to be successful needs to share compelling content consistently.

The challenge is if you don’t have it…

You have pieces… but not a whole…

You only post when you feel inspired…

It sets an atmosphere of amateurism…

The opportunity is if you have it…

You have a simple system, like paint by numbers…

You have a way to consistently get rewarded for your efforts…

You finally start getting clients from your content…

2. Client Attraction Funnel

The second key to attract clients consistently is to have a client attraction funnel.

A funnel is basically a place where someone can opt in any time and join your pipeline.

This is your 24/7 client attraction machine.

The challenge is if you don’t have it…

It feels too complex, so it stays on your to-do list…

You’re posting content, but losing leads, so you stay still…

You stay stuck at the starting point and don’t build your business…

The Opportunity is if you have it…

You feel a constant sense of progress because your numbers are growing…

People can be looked after while you’re away from your laptop…

You have a system to sign up clients whenever you want them…

3. Conversion Event

The third key to attract clients consistently is having a conversion event. A conversion event is a way of presenting what you do to a group of people and elegantly inviting your ideal clients to your offer.

The challenge is if you don’t have it…

You hide away and stay invisible to the people you can help…

You don’t have an effective way to get your audience to a place of decision…

You leave money on the table…

The opportunity is if you have it…

You massively leverage your time…

You create instant positioning…

It feels like you’re doing business with your best friends…

The ONE thing that has always gotten me the most clients the fastest is conversion events.

Events that convert leads into clients.

4. Coaching Support

The fourth thing that you need in order to attract clients is coaching support.

This includes TWO things – an experienced expert and a quality community.

There’s nothing more valuable in your business than having support. Having support holds us to a higher standard. It holds you to getting things done.

It’s the one thing in my business that accelerated me faster than anything.

Receiving consistent clarity, guidance, and feedback from an expert who has achieved what you want to achieve, and who is farther along in the journey is priceless.

Keep shining my friends.

Calling In New Clients In The End-Of-Year-Season

There are 3 big mistakes that a lot of business owners make at the end of the year that can massively set you back.

1. Taking your foot off the accelerator too early

I’ve heard a few people saying in the last week that they’re not sure if they should wind down because it’s coming to the end of the year and maybe I shouldn’t run this campaign until next year. Maybe it’s better to wait.

Unless you’re nearing burn out, I think this is a massive mistake.

I know you’re probably excited to start your holiday…

But I want you to think about something.

Do your clients still need help from you right now?

Or are you going to make it a time to continue to clients with what they’re struggling with?

Are you going to slow down now and kind of dump everything in 2023 to deal with later?

Or are you going to finish the year strong and satisfied?

If you still have energy left in the tank…

…then the only time you stop marketing is when you want to stop getting clients, stop helping people and stop making money.

There are persistent thoughts that are going on in your potential client’s minds right now that you can help them with.

Marketing is always about joining the conversation that’s happening in their head right now. It’s been a big year for a lot of people.

And we want to tap into what they’re feeling and make sure you’re continuing to reach out and share great content and sign-up clients this season.

If you want more clients and cashflow by Christmas…

…you want to take action NOW (not wait until next year)…

So number one mistake – stopping too early and assuming everyone is too busy over December and January.

2. Not looking after your existing clients well

A lot of business owners think that once they’ve got a certain amount of paying clients, they need to focus most of their effort on finding new ones.

This is a mistake. The best clients are repeat clients. People will continue to be clients if you look after them well.

Set them up for a win at this time of year.

Continue to create great content for them. Continue to support them and inspire them and encourage them to have sessions with you and not get swept away with the busyness of this season.

In my inner circle community, I run weekly calls and fortnightly action sessions and in the final 2 weeks before Christmas we focus on reflecting on the year that’s been.

Celebrating our wins, planning and getting ready to hit the ground running in the new year.

3. Not setting up your marketing plan for next year, this year

And the third big mistake that I think hurts coaches a lot at this time of the year is not getting ready for next year this year.

In other words, not finishing this year with a plan for not just your first week back, but your first campaign that and a marketing calendar for the whole of next year.

In my inner circle community, we start planning our marketing calendars at the end of the year, so the first day back from holidays they can click go and roll it out.

In this video I share:

Calling In New Clients In The End-Of-Year-Season

I’m giving you 3 tools you need to get clients at this time of year, and to get set up and ready for next year so you can hit the ground running with a bang come January.

You can check out the video here…

Calling In New Clients In The End-Of-Year Season

3 Things You Can Do To Call In Clients In The End-Of-Year-Season

1. Help people win

Right now at the end of the year, no matter what your niche is or where your market is everybody thinks the same thing. Over the next six or eight weeks, everyone’s going through the exact same thought process.

They’re going to realise that they didn’t hit all the goals they set.

About 95% of the population didn’t hit all of their goals – didn’t achieve everything they hoped for.

And they’re hoping that next year is better.

So, what we’re going to do is we’re tapping into that mindset and creating a version of that.

Create a vision event – an online event like a Facebook live video or a masterclass that taps into this idea of it’s been a big year – let’s do things differently next year.

In this event, create an emotional and mental desire to make next year better or to get a specific result.

Then offer a call with you.

2. Look after your existing clients

Run events such as:

  • Celebration
  • Review the year
  • Create a vision
  • Plan the following year
  • Plan the following quarter
  • Plan January

3. Set up your marketing plan for next year

This is a time of huge danger if you get this wrong and a huge opportunity if you get this right.

If you do this wrong and you take your foot off the accelerator too early, what happens is you lose all of the potential clients that you could have signed in the next few months.

If you get this right, you sign up a bunch of clients, you get them off to a really great start and you collect more money so you can finish the year really strong.

If you’ve spent any of this year kind of confused, and unsure about what to do – it’s probably because you didn’t plan the year at the start.

If you want help getting clients in this end-of-year season, and setting up your marketing, send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE with the word ‘CLIENTS’ and we can have a chat about how we can do it together.

Love Kat xo

How To Create Content That People Will Want To Read

Do you want to know how to write content that people really want to read?

It’s simple when you know how.

Many people are frustrated that their content isn’t getting them clients, and when I look at their content, I can see why.

There are crucial things that are missing.

Content that makes people want to read has certain ingredients and if you miss them, you can miss out on clients.

When you know the secrets, it can almost seem like magic!

But it’s not.

It’s knowing the ingredients that make content compelling.

If you don’t know how to write content that people want to read

1. You end up wasting so much time. You don’t want to spend hours and not get a return on your investment of time.

2. You feel disappointed and discouraged when you don’t get the result you hoped for.

3. Your content doesn’t do its job of building your business. Content is ultimately meant to lead to you getting clients.

When you KNOW how to write content that people want to read

  1. You impact more lives.

2. More people reach out to you. Your content turns your followers into your clients.

3. Meaning, you never have to worry about how to get clients or how to make money again.

In this video I share:
3 ways to write content that people will want to read.
You can check out the video here…

1. Use green language, not red language

There are certain words and phrases that attract and engage people and certain words and phrases that repel people.

What makes language green?

It appeals to the subconscious desires that your audience has.

There are loads of subconscious desires that we all have – I’ll give you a few here that are really powerful to use in your content.

A Harvard study showed that 95% of our buying decisions are made subconsciously.

We typically make decisions based on emotion, and we justify our emotional decision and back it up with logic.

There are words you can use that trigger an emotional response.

The FEM Triad

1. Faster – The desire for speed – faster – things to happen in less time

2. Easier – The desire for ease – to save effort, energy and exertion

3. More – The desire for increase – growth – novelty – different – drama – curiosity – novelty

If you can show someone how to make things faster, make things easier and get more of what they want with your content it will definitely make people want to keep reading.

This means we need to know what our ideal audience wants – and give it to them.

2. Share about pain killers not vitamins

If you want to write so that people read, and speak so that people listen, you need to share in a way that shows them that they need something.

I’m going to say that again because it’s so powerful.

Share in a way that shows them that they need something.

A vitamin is something that’s good for you. We take them for future health benefits. Often we forget to take them. We think we should. We don’t notice if we miss it.

Vitamin content is missed. It makes people tune out.

If you have an extremely debilitating headache you don’t need reminding or being convinced or advertised to. You go looking for a painkiller.

  • What is the pain your people are in?
  • What is the pain killer that your clients are looking for?

And how can you provide that for them…

…that’s when people sit on the edge of their seats.

That’s when people seek you out.

3. Help people overcome barriers to action

One of my clients said to me once; “Kat, I’m thinking I need to post more funny stuff on my Facebook business page because the funny stuff gets the most likes.”

I’m not sure if you’ve fallen into that trap before, but likes are not the goal. Getting people to take the next step towards you is the goal – the step towards becoming a paid client.

You want to ensure your content helps people to actually take action to change their life, not just to entertain them.

‘How To’ videos are everywhere on the internet.

It’s the most searched term on Google. But we’ve got to remember, that it’s not just about people learning.

It’s about people doing. It’s about people taking action on what you’re teaching them.

When you’re thinking about your content for your social media, ask yourself; ‘How can I help people overcome their resistance to changing?’

‘How can I have them overcome their biggest objections to taking action on what I’m sharing?’

Then use your content to overcome these.

Hope this has been useful.

Big love,

Kat xo

How To Create A Content Strategy That Gets You Clients

Most business owners know that content creation is one of the most effective ways to attract qualified clients.

But so many people are struggling to produce content that brings in any type of tangible result.

Like having people reach out to you in the DM’s, or book a call on your calendar, or email you asking about your program or service.

One of the biggest downfalls business owners have when it comes to their content, is that they don’t have an effective strategy.

If you don’t have an effective content strategy, you can waste so much time and effort and not get enough clients from your content.

An effective content strategy has a number of essential ingredients…

…and if you miss them, you can miss out on turning your followers into clients.

To get your content strategy doing its job, there are some key principles you can follow so that your content inspires people to work with you.

When you get your content strategy right, things can change really fast in your business.

In my latest video, I share:
‘How To Create A Content Strategy That Gets You Clients.’
You can check out the video here…

Here are 5 things I recommend for creating a content strategy…

1. Build your content backwards from your signature offer

Like Steven Coven says “Start with the end in mind”

We want to start by making sure we have an irrefusable offer…

…then use our content to overcome any beliefs or blocks they may have to signing up for that offer if it’s the right fit.

2. Make sure every piece of content has a purpose

A common mistake I see is people posting without a purpose.

Your content typically won’t sign clients if you haven’t got an intentional plan about where each piece of content fits in your over-arching strategy.

There are so many things that you need to share with someone before they will invest money in you…

…and that’s why you need a strategy, to make sure you’re covering all the points.

3. Create a consistent content schedule

When you have a consistent content schedule, you know when you’re going to create and when you’re going to post.

This creates a sense of relief and a feeling of control, knowing you have this part of your business on track.

4. Rotate between different types of content

There are 5 types of content that I recommend. Each has a different purpose. They are:

1. Engage

2. Educate

3. Enlighten

4. Edutain

5. Exchange

Also, use a mixture of video and written content to appeal to different types of preferences.

5. Create a clear content journey

Many people’s social media posts, emails, or blog posts, exist as a disconnected function rather than an active part of a funnel.

This means there’s no incentive for people to do anything after they’ve consumed your content.

A content journey leads your audience from one step (e.g a social media post) to the next (e.g giving their email address).

Take care my friends and remember –

The world needs you.

Talk soon. Bye for now

6 Steps to Attracting Your First Paying Client, Fast

Do you ever wonder “How do I take people from free sessions to paid sessions?”

If you’re new to business or you’ve been working with people for free but not yet being paid for your services, it’s time to give yourself a pay-day!

It’s so important that you start charging for your services, because THAT is when you know that you’re in business.

Then you start to build your confidence and you start operating out of the identity of a business owner, rather than the identity of someone who, for example, just helps their friends.

It’s a significant shift!

If people aren’t paying you, you can doubt yourself and feel like something is wrong with you.

But if you’re not being paid yet, it’s not usually that you’re not good, it’s usually a packaging, marketing or sales problem – and these are skills you can learn.

In this article and video, I share with you six steps to signing up your first paying client, fast.

Here is the six-step process:

1. Unpack your uniqueness

There are so many things about you that are unique and only you have them. It’s how you stand out from everyone else who is doing something similar.

Look at your backstory, what led you to this point and the challenges that you’ve had to overcome to get to know you are now. I want you to think about what has been the biggest challenge that you’ve overcome and how you solved that problem.

I was talking to someone today who said, there are a lot of people working in your space, and it got me thinking because I never think there’s a lot of coaches, I think it’s a good thing that there are lots of coaches.

I think the world needs more coaches because right now the fastest growing industry is the information technology industry with coaching as the second-fastest growing industry. And that can only be a good thing.

People are craving human connection. The problems that are on the rise in the world today, coaches that can offer to help people, to improve their lives, to improve their quality of life can be successful.

We all have problems, we all have limiting beliefs and as a coach, I truly believe that there are not enough coaches to help everyone. So, don’t think of it as a competition.

When you’re unpacking your uniqueness, you want to look at what problems you have personally overcome. Not just looking at your stories, but what you did about them. For example, did you enrol in a course? What skills did you learn, what experience do you have?

That unique combination of everything you’ve done in your life combined with your personality, your skills, your experience, your knowledge, your unique family situation, and the problems you’ve solved. All that makes up you and your uniqueness.

2. Identify your ideal client

This is the thing that trips up most people that I talk to, especially coaches and consultants when it comes to their target market, it’s not very niched. It’s too broad.

You need to get really clear on specifically the kinds of people that you do help and the people that you don’t help because if you’re vague, no one’s going to be able to find you and you’re not going to be able to find them.

Identify your ideal client, their attitude, their personality, where are they hanging out, get clear on that and don’t be afraid to go deep and specific.

Think about the problems they have that you can solve, their fears and frustrations, dreams and desires. Use this in your marketing and sales language.

3. Organise your offer

Put together an offer that is a signature program, a step-by-step process that you’re going to take people through that’s uniquely yours so people don’t just buy coaching, they don’t just buy time with you, they value tools and the process that takes them from where they are, to where they want to be.

You want to be able to organise it, so it becomes an irresistible offer.

One of the elements that make a great offer is community. People value a quality community. They can ask questions, get inspired by other people, they can learn, get feedback and have information tailored to them…

…because anyone can Google, anyone can find information online. But people don’t just want information, they don’t want you to just educate them, they want a program where they work through and they see the step=by-step change to get the result that they want.

I recommend that it contains some community, and has some offline and some online if possible.

A live element in your program, on zoom, for example, means you can coach people all over the globe, but you also want people are in your area to create a community because people crave that human connection.

You want to think about what kind of online training modules you offer, whether it’s videos, worksheets, cheat sheets, templates, what are the things that you’ve created that have helped you overcome problems that you can package for people.

Remember, people don’t want to just buy time with you, and they don’t want to calculate how much they need to pay per hour, but if you put it all together in a signature program, they are more likely to buy it.

4. Create your Content

When you create your content, you’ve got to think about where your ideal clients are hanging out? How do they like to receive content? Do they like it through video like Facebook Live? Blogs? Webinars? LinkedIn? Instagram and stories or Facebook?

Do they want a workshop? Or a free evening meetup or brunch or a seminar? There are lots of different ways that you can deliver content to people. So, think about how you want to deliver your content.

I was on holiday in New Zealand last week and my sister Vicki and I did a business summit. Every now and then, she went off and did half-hour phone coaching calls.

I was so inspired by the way she has set up her life so she can go for a walk and talk on the phone and get paid for it while on holiday.

That’s something you can do as well, think about where Iyou want to meet people – in person? Or would that be a hassle for me to drive? For you to have a business that suits your lifestyle you must make sure there is longevity for you.

Maybe you don’t want to travel to people, maybe you want them to come to you or it’s on the phone. You might only do 30-minute or 45-minute sessions.

Remember, it’s your business, you can do it however you want. That’s the beauty of working for yourself. You don’t have to follow your boss’s rules. You are the boss, so you get to set the rules.

Obviously be flexible about what suits your ideal client, but when you identify your ideal client, you choose them. You can say my ideal client doesn’t mind doing phone calls if you want to do coaching on the phone.

You might say my ideal client doesn’t want to do live events because I don’t want to do live events. I want to do webinars.

Remember, you’re the boss, you’re in control. And that’s one of the perks of having your own business.

5. Attract your avatar

Your avatar is the person you’ve created as your ideal client and you attract them by speaking their language. Now the best way that I found to do this is to create a freebie. Create something for free, downloadable, like a PDF cheat sheet or guide that is around three to five pages.

They’re the ones that work the best now, not an eBook. Most people don’t read them anymore. A very small percentage of people read eBooks, you want something that can be consumed in about 10 minutes or less.

It should be valuable. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be valuable. If you can help someone with a problem and get them a result through that freebie you can build your email list, which is an asset for you in business when you’re starting out.

You’re attracting them through compelling content because you’re speaking their language, and freebies a great way to do it.

6. Offer a free session

At the end of your freebie, you want to offer a free consultation. So you would say something like “Would you like help with this?” or “Would you like to know exactly how to apply this?”

Because remember, they’ve got the information, but they still don’t know how to really apply it to their life. They still need your help.

So, you can offer them the free session on the thank you page of the freebie, a free discovery or clarity session with you, and then you can then offer them your paid program if it’s the right match.

When you’re first starting out you may wish to consider offering your whole program completely for free to, for example, 3 people to get great reviews and testimonials. That will help you get your next paying clients.

Then offer your coaching program massively discounted for a few people again to get great testimonials.

Give them lots of value, be really generous and help them get a great result, and that will help you build your business.

So those are the six steps to attracting your first paying client.

To recap:

  1. Unpack your uniqueness
  2. Identify your ideal client
  3. Organise your offer
  4. Create your content
  5. Attract your avatar
  6. Offer a free session

Through running successful businesses since 2003, I’ve been able to create a simple, powerful formula that anyone can useto attract qualified leads and eager clients.

I’ll be sharing the strategies working best right now to attract more ideal clients.
