How To Create A High-Converting Content Strategy

Want a simple and effective content strategy that shows you exactly what to do? A content strategy needs to be easy to execute, without you needing to spend hours a day creating content. You want your content to have an actual real impact on your business.

Effective content has people asking to work with you. You are not left wondering if your content will work, you know it will. An effective content strategy gives you results, so you can continue to get paid in your business and put food on the table!

You don’t just produce content for the sake of it. If you are, then you’re missing opportunities and clients.  I often see people posting content with no purpose. It’s kind of hanging there and there is no flow or journey they are taking potential clients on.

When I first started out, I had no plan with my content. I would just show up and throw up. I learned something, then taught it, but I didn’t have a content strategy.

Over the years, I realised that without having a client journey set out in my content plan and implementing that in my content, then I was wasting my time posting content that did not have an end goal.

It’s really nice to have some spontaneous content, and that’s what I love using stories and lifestyle posts for. You also want to make sure that you have solid content that is doing its job of attracting clients to you.

One of the biggest downfalls that I see is people frustrated because they don’t have a strategy and they are not influencing people with their content. Their content is not shifting people’s perspectives. They’re not actually using their content to get qualified leads.

Successful content needs to be of value to your target audience. It answers the questions that your potential clients have at a particular stage in their client journey. This increases the chances of the right people wanting to work with you.

An effective content strategy has a number of essential ingredients and if you miss them, you can miss out on turning your followers into buyers. To get your content strategy doing its job, there are principles you can follow that work consistently. ⠀

Over the last 10+ years creating online content in my business, I’ve discovered there are 5 essential elements that an effective content strategy has, so I’m going to share them with you today.

1. Build Your Content Backwards From Your Signature Offer

I like what Steven Covey says, “Start with the end in mind.” It’s one of his Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

The endpoint of your client’s journey is to buy your big premium package offer. So, this is where you have to start from. If you don’t have a premium offer, then that’s something I help people to create.

Your offer has to be irresistible and contain all the components of a great offer. Your offer needs to have things like community, an element of coaching or consulting, and some element of a curriculum. When you’ve built out your offer, then you can start reverse-engineering it.

Successful content answers the questions your potential clients’ have during their client journey.

To reverse engineer your offer, you need to think through the following:

  • What do people need to know before they will buy your offer?
  • What do people need to know to take them through from Point A to Point B into transformation?
  • What do they need to believe? (A lot of times people aren’t buying your offer because they’ve got beliefs that we actually need to shift through our content.)
  • What do they need to think about you?
  • What do they need to think about the solution you offer?

Your content needs to answer the questions potential clients have at a subconscious level. When most people are surfing the internet or scrolling through their social media feeds, they are often not looking at a logical level. They are looking at a subconscious level.

Everyone has multiple problems and they often sit at an unconscious level. If someone comes across a piece of your content that solves one of their problems, they will probably be interested in what you have to offer.

Your content needs to overcome people’s objections and limiting beliefs. You can’t overcome every objection in one post. You need to aim to overcome one objection in one piece of content.

For example, if you have a three-month health coaching package. People consuming your content may think that they don’t need a coaching package because they can just go on a diet they found in a magazine.

One of your pieces of content might aim to tackle this objection, so you would talk about how magazine diets are written by people who don’t know anything about you. They are created by a random stranger, who does not know your individual lifestyle or unique nutritional needs. You would do one post on that topic only.

People who read your content often don’t know that they need a coach, and they don’t know that they need your specific program. Your content needs to show them how you’re going to solve their problem, so they will be interested.

2. Make Sure Every Piece Of Content Has A Purpose

A common mistake I see is people posting without a purpose. A lot of people post content without really thinking about why.  I’ve definitely done this before, and I’ve looked back and asked myself why did I present it? What was the point?

Think about the purpose of your last 3 posts. Was the purpose to:

  • Get more engagement?
  • Attract more people?
  • Overcome a belief?
  • Sell something?
  • Build connection?

There are so many things you will need to share with someone before they will invest money in you. That’s why you need a strategy to make sure that you’re covering all the points. And you can’t try and change all the areas of someone’s beliefs in one post, or one blog. You can’t tell all your stories in one post.

There are so many things you will need to share with a potential client before they will invest money in you.

What I recommend is that you have one idea, and with that, you may share 3 tips. It’s like an umbrella that the tips hang under. Ask yourself what your point is and if you’ve evoked emotion or invoked curiosity.

If your content does not have a purpose, it won’t draw potential clients to you, so they actually sign up with you. If you haven’t got a purpose and intentional plan about where each piece of content fits in your over-arching strategy, it can’t achieve the goal of attracting clients.

3. Create A Consistent Content Schedule

If you don’t have a schedule, you’ll probably find that you get to the end of the week and haven’t posted much. Or you have posted, but it’s about your walk, your food, or your time in the sun. You’ve not posted purposeful content that actually gets results.

A couple of years ago I decided I was going to commit to every single week doing one main big piece of content. I decided to do one video, and then I was going to leverage that piece of content.

This content is my Facebook Live video.  I upload it on my YouTube channel so it’s building my channel, and I’m putting it into a blog every week. My YouTube is growing and my website content is being updated each week.

I actually was interviewed on a podcast and that person found me because I was posting consistently on YouTube.  I don’t have a massive reach or a really big following, but people still constantly find me on Google because I’m always updating my website and content.

When you have a consistent content schedule, you know when you’re going to create and when you’re going to post. Wednesday is what I call my cave day. On my cave day I turn my phone off, go out in nature and think through my content. I map things out on paper. I don’t have any clients on a Wednesday. Wednesday is my content creation day.

To create a content schedule, you need to decide on and map out:

  1. What you’re going to post
  2. When you’re going to post
  3. What platforms you’re going to post on

4. Rotate Between Different Types Of Content

Rotating between different types of content is important so you don’t just do the same type of content all the time. There are 5 types of content that I personally rotate between and each has a different purpose. You can have more or less than these.

My 5 content types are:

1. Attraction
2. Educational
3. Belief-shifting
4. Inspirational
5. Promotional

An example of what I do with one of my content types is my belief-shifting content pieces. With these pieces, I think about what someone’s current belief is. Then I think about what I want them to believe instead, to help them overcome their limiting beliefs. This is so they can transform and actually get what they want in life.

People often are giving so much value in their content, yet they never invite people to work with them or make an offer. Then there are other people who are always promoting constantly but never giving much value.

There’s a balance that you have to achieve where you give valuable content but also make an offer.

There’s a balance that you have to achieve where you are giving valuable content, but also making an offer. The scales need to be balanced.

When you’re giving so much value but never inviting people to work with you, you will end up broke. It’s not just about you staying in business and making money, but also about helping people to get transformation.

5. Create A Clear Content Journey

A content journey leads your audience from one step (say a social media post) to the next (maybe giving you their email address). However, many posts on social media, emails or blog posts, exist as a disconnected function rather than an active part of a marketing funnel.

When a connection is formed, you need to nurture those people with more relevant content. If you don’t have a next step planned out, there’s no incentive for those consuming your content to do anything after they’ve consumed it. There’s nowhere for the person to go after they have read your post or watched your video.

Instead, you always want to have an action item for the person at the end of your content which is part of your marketing funnel. For example, with your blog posts or Facebook Live videos, ideally, you want to offer a downloadable freebie or cheat sheet at the end or you may invite them to a Zoom event that you are holding.

The concept of a marketing funnel is you get lots of people coming in at the top of your funnel. This might be from an invite to download a free PDF in which you give some value. The person gives you their email address in exchange for your downloadable.

Email addresses are gold. People who opt-in are a lot warmer because they have said yes to you already. I get hundreds of people open my emails and I’d never be able to get that reach organically just using email.

People who opt-in are a lot warmer because they have already said yes to you.

In the next funnel step, you may offer a strategy session with you, which you can put on the downloadable offer thank you page of your funnel landing page.  So the journey is, the person comes in from your social media post, blog, or however they found you, then they take the steps through your marketing funnel.

You cross-pollinate all the way through. It’s like you’ve got all these fishing rods out in the water. It may be on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook posts. Each has different lead generation avenues of drawing traffic. People come in at a high level and they are filtered down to become paid clients right at the bottom.

You want to think of your content pieces as part of your whole over-arching strategy. If you’re finding that you’re not getting the results you want from your content, it’s probably time to rethink your content strategy.

Fun Ways To Reflect On Your Year

It’s time to stop and give yourself a massive pat on the back, chink your glass with a loved one, and celebrate your success!

With the year rapidly drawing to an end, it’s powerful to look back at the year that’s been, before moving forward into the new year ahead.

Taking time for reflection on our personal life and business successes and growth before we continue into the next season is a great way to honour ourselves and enjoy the feeling of gratitude.

There’s so much power in acknowledging the end of a season before the next one.

And while little changes just because the calendar ticks over…

If we’re intentional, we can use the potent, collective energy that’s around us in this time of year to fuel us for our next chapter.

How you end something often sets the tone for how you begin the next thing. And I’ve noticed this applies to how we end a year.

2021 has been an unusual and challenging year for many people.

So firstly, I encourage you to acknowledge yourself for how you’ve handled what potentially could be one of the craziest years in your living history. Your nervous system may have been through the wringer.

Acknowledge yourself for everything that you have been through. Acknowledge that it could potentially have been one of the toughest years of your life. You made it through a global pandemic!

It can be really easy to focus on the things that didn’t happen that we wanted to happen this year. But we know that focusing on that is really not helpful.

Give yourself lots of grace and kindness, especially if you haven’t achieved everything you wanted.

Taking the time to celebrate everything that you’ve learned and achieved throughout the last year is so valuable. It’s a great way to take the wisdom and grow.

I like taking myself on a date, where I go to my favourite cafe or park, sit under a tree, take out my pen and paper and reflect with gratitude.

There are a few different ways I recommend you reflect on your year.

I encourage you to take yourself out on a private little date with yourself and use this process to reflect on the year before it finishes.

3 Ways To Reflect On Your Year
1 – Do A Solo Date With Yourself

The first one is to do a solo date with yourself. I love to get out of the house and into nature and sit with pen and paper and have a time of reflection,  and just write and write.

2 – Do A Group Reflection

The second way is to do a group reflection. I do this in my Influences Inner Circle group each year and we went around and encouraged each other and spoke out what we admired about each other.

I encourage the group to think about where they were last year and how far they’ve come.

3 – Create A Video Reflection

The third way of doing a reflection is to do a video reflection. You could record yourself a video and watch it back in a year’s time, or watch it back in a couple years’ time. You could do this on Zoom, FB Live or just a video on your phone.

Share some of your highlights, what you have gained and achieved, and what you would do differently. You could do this alone, or with your community.

3 Steps For Doing A Yearly Reflection

There are 3 steps that I use that might help you when you’re doing your yearly reflection.

1 – Go Through Your Calendar

The first thing I do is I go through my calendar, right from January to December. The easiest way to do this is to do a search. I compile a list so I can see it in front of me.

I write down the courses that I’ve crewed, the events, webinars and Facebook Lives I’ve held and the holidays I’ve had.

2 – Put it on a Spreadsheet

I like to put the information onto a spreadsheet with filters on it so I can easily see a snapshot of the year, which helps me in planning the coming year.

I work out how many events I ran and attended, how many Facebook Lives I did, how many webinars I’ve held etc. and I tally them all in a spreadsheet.

3 – Have a Creative Process

You may also want to have a creative process of reflection.  A friend of mine took a day and created a snapshot of drawings of her year, a beautiful creative reflection of her life right now.

You might want to just summarise your year on one page, or put it creatively on a big piece of paper for what your year was like for you.

5 Reflective Questions To Ask Yourself

It helps to have some targeted questions that you ask yourself when you do a yearly reflection to guide the process.

Here are 5 suggested questions:

1 – What Went Well For You This Year?

Ask yourself what went well for you this year? What’s one thing or many things that went well for you?

I know it’s been a super challenging year for most people, but this is important. You need to really acknowledge what you did well.

I loved that this year I was not out and about all the time.

I got to know myself a lot more. I got to see my non-negotiables, and what was really important to me.

2 – What Are You Proud Of?

It’s important to write down what you are proud of. Is it doing your first Facebook Live?  Or was it your first time doing social media posts?

I’m proud that I’ve created new and better solutions for myself and for my community. I’ve grown so much personally in this last year. Adversity forces you to grow and expand.

What are you proud of that you’ve achieved in 2021?

3 – How Have You Grown Personally?

When entrepreneurs face challenges, it shows you what you are made of.  We’re tough, we resolve challenges, we push through, we solve problems.

The leaders that are doing the best in the world, the most successful people are the ones solving the biggest problems.  They create solutions and solve problems.

It’s in a crisis that you see what’s really inside of you. I’ve grown so much personally in this last year. Adversity forces you to grow and expand.

When everything’s calm, anyone can be calm, peaceful and joyous. But when the rubber hits the road and when the storms come, that is when your true inner strength comes out.

The storms show you what you’re made of. They force you to step up.

Write down all the areas you have grown personally this year. And boy, it’s been a crazy year where most of us have had big chances to grow personally.

4 – How Have You Grown Professionally This Year?

How have you grown professionally this year?

For me, I’ve really developed my program and community, which was a big desire. For years, I’ve desired a really amazing community. And I’ve now got that. And I love every single one of my clients. I love working with them all.

I’ve said no to people throughout the year, so I can just keep saying yes to the right people. And I’ve now only got clients that are incredible.

This requires a lot of faith and trust to believe that the right people will come to you if you allow the wrong people to pass by. I’ve let go of people that haven’t been the right match go,  in order to keep spaces open to the right people.

In these communities, people grow professionally as individuals and they grow corporately also. I’m seeing the power of community and people encouraging and inspiring each other.

5 – What Did You Learn?

What did you learn this year?

We learn from all sorts of things – our friendships, clients, personal relationships, mentors, books, videos, and programs we’ve invested in.

I’ve always believed in the power of mentorship, but I’m really seeing my growth now because I’ve continued to massively invest in great mentors.

Also, I attended so many courses.  Some of them were repeats and I can feel the layers and mastery that I’m building.

I’ve learned so much more about marketing, copywriting, Facebook ads. And there’s still so much more to learn.

I think it’s really good to be specific on the skills that you’ve been improving on and specifically the knowledge that you’ve gained in the year.

The lockdown really taught me the value of learning how to best use online technology. I think it’s absolutely amazing that we can sit at home and make money.

I encourage you to do these 5 reflection questions by yourself – take yourself out on a private little date with yourself and reflect.

This way you can go forward into the next year, taking the learnings from the last year and running with them into the new year.

It’s also cool to ask other people these questions also to encourage them to reflect on their highlights and learnings, and enjoy the feeling of gratitude.

Have a wonderful, happy new year, and may your 2022 be very prosperous, successful, and fulfilling!

I wish you a great time with your loved ones, lots of deep, refreshing rest, and plenty of fun.

See you in 2022!

The Most Elegant Way To Sign Up More Dream Clients

Would you like to be able to sign up more clients, in an elegant way?

To attract more clients, there’s one approach that’s guaranteed to get you more success than anything else.

This approach was first discovered and written about over 2,300 years ago and it hasn’t changed – it’s stood the test of time and it’s even been backed by science.

Over the years there were people who tried to sell to me in a way that didn’t feel good and other people who were a joy to have a sales conversation with… and it was a beautiful experience.

Most of us have been burned or put off by a salesperson and we don’t want to be that person. I decided to go on a bit of a quest to learn sales in a way that felt really good – sales that is inspiring, like a beautiful conversation.

Now I never feel like I’m selling, because I’m not trying to convince anyone. I’m not trying to change someone’s mind. I’m literally holding space for someone.

If you’ve been in business for a while, I’m sure you know influence is so important. What a lot of people don’t know is how to use influence in an elegant way to sign up clients.

No matter how good you are at what you do, nothing’s going to work if you don’t know how to influence people to take action.

So in this video, I share with you 3 ways to be elegantly influential so you can sign up more dream clients, based on the findings of the very inventor of the art of persuasion himself.

In this video, I share…

  • 3 influential forces that you can use to influence people to change their lives for good based on the findings of Aristotle
  • What elegant influence actually is and how to use it
  • The tactics to avoid if you want to build trust and stay in business for the long-term
  • The keys to showing people they can trust you
  • The method that is so powerful it triggers people into action

If you want to rapidly accelerate your ability to be booked solid with your ideal clients, and if this style of selling resonates with you, let’s have a chat about how the authentic influence process could help you.

Hundreds of people have found that by applying an expert strategy, rather than trying to fit together all the pieces of the puzzle by themselves, they were able to double, triple, and in some cases 5x their results, in less time.

So if you haven’t had your strategy session with me yet, feel free to send me a DM on Facebook now.

Until we meet again…

Keep shining, keep sharing because the world is waiting for your words.

How To Attract More Clients Using Facebook Live Videos

Want to know the fastest way to build more trust, offer more value, and attract more leads online?

Going live on video is one of the best ways to grow your audience, connect with your community, and powerfully position yourself as an expert.

If you’re like most people that I speak to, you might find going live on a video pretty scary.

When I first got introduced to the idea of Facebook Live videos, I was terrified.

But I realised I needed to get over that because Facebook Live videos are so effective. They build trust and rapport a lot faster than written posts.

Research also shows that people who use videos in their marketing on average get a 27% higher click-through rate and 34% higher conversion than those who don’t.

Videos can open a lot of doors of opportunity for you.

A lot of people find that when they consistently go live on video, they are much more likely to get asked to speak in other people’s Facebook groups, speak in online summits, and be seen as an authority on your topic.

In this video, I share…

  • A simple, yet powerful 5-step process that you can use to show up more confidently in your Facebook live videos
  • How to guarantee your Facebook Live videos get more engagement
  • How to build more trust and rapport with your audience
  • How to use live videos to have people regularly reaching out to you, so you never again how to worry where your clients are coming from

Here are some highlights from the video…

1. ATTENTION

We all have an internal subconscious ‘gate-keeper’ that helps us decide which videos to watch…and which ones to scroll past.

A Harvard study showed that over 90% of our decisions are made subconsciously.

So with our videos, if we don’t speak directly to the subconscious mind, it rarely gets attention.  To get someone’s attention, we need to understand the values of our ideal clients.

2. WHY

To maintain attention, it’s important to talk about ‘why’ the topic is important before you go into teaching anything.

People switch off if they don’t realise the importance of what you’re sharing.

3. CREDIBILITY

This is where you want to share why you’re qualified to speak on the topic.

Before you teach anyone anything, I recommend you always pre-frame it by sharing why they can trust you and why you’re the person to listen to.

4. TEACH

When you teach, you want to make sure you have organised your knowledge clearly, so you don’t waffle on.

When you’re thinking about what content to teach – think of the coolest possible things you’ve learned about the topic.

5. CALL TO ACTION

The whole purpose of your video is for the people watching it to take a new action.

So make sure you always have a call to action at the end of your live videos.

The action could be a new behaviour, join your course, jump on a discovery call with you, come to your event – whatever the next best step is.

So that’s the 5-step formula for attracting clients using live video.

Hope this is helpful.

This is one small piece out of my entire client attraction formula. It’s one piece of what I call the client attraction bridge.

It’s one thing to do a video, it’s another thing to be able to convert that video to leads and to paying clients, which is a whole different skill.

So if you haven’t had your client attraction strategy session with me, I’d like to invite you into one of these free sessions.

If you’d like to have a personalised marketing strategy send me a DM on Facebook and we’ll chat over Messenger to make sure it’s a great fit for you.

Literally thousands of people have been through one of these strategy sessions, and realised they were wasting an incredible amount of time. After the session, they shifted what they’re doing and moved forward rapidly.

By applying the strategy of an expert, rather than trying to piece together everything by themselves, they were able to double, triple, and in some cases 5x their results in half the time.

If it is, I’ll give you all the details to get you started. It will be a very exclusive small group so that everyone gets personal coaching with me about how to use your content to attract the right clients.

In the strategy, I’ll be able to identify and show you the exact reason you’re not attracting more clients consistently, and exactly what to change to be able to attract clients 3-5x faster.

So if you haven’t had your strategy session with me yet, send me a DM on Facebook now.

Until next time…

Keep shining, keep sharing. The world is waiting for your words.

How To Get Found Online By Aligned Clients

Want to know how to consistently get your dream clients in your coaching biz?

I understand that online marketing can sometimes feel confusing. You can’t always tell what’s going wrong, what adjustments to make, or where to apply your time and effort.

In the online marketing world, there are loads of contradictions and controversy about what to do. The end result is coaches running around in circles with too much to focus on… and too much useless information they’ve seen from a bunch of places online.

Here’s where I take a different approach. My intention is to always keep things simple and focused.

I’ve created a 5-step process to get found online by aligned clients so you can solve the biggest problems that are keeping you from attracting your ideal clients consistently.

In this video, I share…

  • How to get found online by the right-fit people
  • How to use ‘Elegant Influence’ to inspire people, and not in a salesy way
  • Characteristics of aligned clients to look out for
  • How to become the guide in your client’s ‘hero journey’
  • 5 action steps to take to get found online by your aligned clients

Here are some of the highlights of what I shared…

#1: Tidy your home – Makeover Your Facebook Personal Profile

You want your Facebook page to be inviting and clear, because you want visitors to know what your business is all about when they come to you.

So it’s important to tidy up your home online.

How do you do that?

1. Have a great cover photo

Show your credibility & personality

Ideally use a professional photo

Include and a clear, concise, compelling statement.

2. Utilise your introduction as a mini-bio

You have about 100 characters so use them wisely. Creatively include who you help and what you help them do.

Use a short link and direct them to your Facebook group or website.

3. Include your business page as your current workplace

I recommend using the words ‘Owner and Founder at [name of business page].

4. Utilise the links in the introduction

Use ’edit profile’ to create relevant links e.g. your website, Facebook group, and landing page to book a call or download your freebie.

5. Only include relevant information

Include only what your ideal client needs to know. This doesn’t include your school, hometown, college, or previous workplaces.

Facebook Business Page Tips

Include:

1. A great username

2. Have a professional cover photo

3. Put key details in the ‘About’ section – include URL

4. Choose the most effective top button – e.g. Facebook group

5. Reviews – ask your clients to add a review

2#: Create a Cool Gift

Create a cool gift that will help your ideal client solve their most pressing problem.

Post it in either your personal profile or your Facebook group. You can also post it on LinkedIn and Instagram.

I recommend the 80/20 rhythm – 80% giving, 20% asking – asking to come to an event or a strategy session, not selling your program.

#3: Visit Your Neighbours

If you don’t have a big following, visit your ‘neighbours’ online – other people’s Facebook groups.

Share valuable posts. You can do it yourself or get a VA (Virtual Assistant) to do it.

Connect with potential IFC’s (Ideal Future Clients) who engaged with your gift. Aim for around 15 mins in the morning and 15 mins before you log off at night.

Don’t slide into DM’s and try and have conversations with people you don’t know. Use Facebook’s algorithm. The more targeted friends we have, the better.

#4: Invite Them Over

Ask them if they’d like your gift (permission-based marketing), then you can share your link which is basically inviting them to your home.

Your home is your email, your chat, and your Facebook group.

People love good quality communities.

We want to give them a virtual ‘hug’ (nurture and connection) in 3 ways:

* Your group

* Your email list

* You chat with them

#5: Make Them Feel Welcome

You want them to feel at home… no matter what stage they are at or how different to you they are.

Continue to add value and give them more great content.
