The ONLY 4 Ways You Can Promote Your Business – And Why I Only Do 3 Of Them

Do you wish there was a way to get clients consistently, without you having to chase people?

In today’s competitive online world, getting clients has become more challenging than ever.

But the good news is – there’s an effective way to grow your client base consistently, no matter what stage of business you’re in.

Having lots of paying clients makes it very hard to be poor.

When you have this one skill of client attraction, it’s like having the key to solve your financial problems.

My hope is that I can transfer that skill to you, so you know how to get clients whenever you want them.

Watch the video here:

There are only four ways one person can market anything, i.e. letting people know about your stuff.

When it comes to marketing, there are:

2 Types of Audiences:

One person

Many people

2 Types of Communication:

People who know you

People who don’t know you

Here are the 4 ways you can market your services:

Warm Outreach 1-to-1

This is where someone gave you permission to contact them – this is anyone who knows you. You don’t necessarily have to know them, but they need to know you.

Examples of ways of communicating 1-to-1 (Private): Phone call, email, text, voicemail, message.

For a lot of people, it can feel weird to ask for business from friends and family. Warm outreach can be useful, especially when you’re starting out.

It can also be useful in sharing valuable content with people, such as a free resource or event.

But most of you will reach the end of the people you know and need other ways to grow your audience.

Cold Outreach

This is where they did not give you permission – “strangers” other people’s audiences, lists, platforms etc. e.g. SMS, Messaging, Networking.

This is something I personally don’t do or recommend.

You have to do a lot of volume. You get a lot of rejection. So it’s not usually very fun, and you often tap out.

The downside of cold outreach is that most people don’t like it. And again, you have to do a lot of volume.

Free Content

This is sharing free, valuable content 1 to many (Public): e.g. Social media posts, podcasts, blogs, videos.

I spend the majority of my time focusing on sharing free content in many different forms.

Paid Content

Paid advertising e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google.

Paid ads are a great way to grow your audience and attract more leads. But they’re typically best once you have defined your ideal client and messaging. Which can take some time at the beginning.

There’s a lot of information out there now. There are a lot of things we can be doing in our businesses every day.

Some gurus will say marketing is about making sure your energy is aligned to manifest clients.

Others will say you just have to show up 3 times a day on your Instagram stories or have PR and be featured in a book.

Or get more hustle harder…

But what if you don’t want to do any of those things?

Or you’ve tried them, & they’re not working?

So my question to you is – when you’re about to do that next thing you’re about to do…

– that book you’re about to read

– that podcast you’re about to listen to

– that free webinar on how to make more money

– that course on how to write a book or start a podcast

– That video you’re about to watch on tiktok hacks or how to go viral using Reels

Ask yourself – Is it the fastest way from where you are now, to getting a paying client?

To keep it very simple, here are only 3 things I recommend you have in order to get clients consistently:

A compelling content strategy

A client attraction funnel

A conversion event

These are the 3 things I installed into my business to get me to a 6-figure full-time coaching business.

P.S. Whenever you’re ready… here are 4 other ways I can help you grow your business:

If You’re Not Converting at Least 3 Out of 5 Sales Conversations or More, It’s Because of This…

Do you ever get nervous on sales calls?

Ever feel secretly relieved when someone does a no-show?

Do you NOT want to be seen as pushy during sales conversations?

I totally get it.

But I discovered a powerful truth: effective selling is the lifeblood of your coaching business.

Effective selling skills are vital for achieving the impact, income, and freedom we want in our coaching business.

If you’re not converting at least 3 in 5 sales conversations into clients, there’s only ONE main reason.

In this video, I share the reason, as well as my secrets to transforming your discomfort into confidence.

  • Discover the REAL reason why so many coaches avoid selling and actionable steps to turn this around
  • How to conduct natural, authentic, and elegant sales conversations that convert to clients
  • The keys to creating more genuine human connection in your sales conversations, opening the door to enrolling dream clients

You can watch the video here:

If you're not converting it's because of this

When I first started out as a coach, I cringed at the thought of having sales conversations.

We’ve all been in a sales conversation where we’ve felt that the person doesn’t really care about us and they’re just trying to push a product or the service on us.

I remember being at an event once and the guy said to raise your hand if you’re in sales.

I was a personal trainer at the time, and there were hundreds of us at the event. No one raised their hand. And he said, “Well, if you don’t view yourself as being a salesperson, you’ve already lost the game.”

I got this really icky feeling that I did not want to be known as a salesperson in business.

Over time, what I learned is that when you attract the right people who are a great match for what you’re offering, it doesn’t feel like selling.

It feels like a really enjoyable conversation. When you are authentic, it feels so natural and it just flows.

You don’t have to think about what tactic you will use and how you will overcome objections.

In fact, my clients who use my process tell me they very rarely get objections.

So how do we do this?

If you want to be able to elegantly invite people to work with you and not feel like you’re a salesperson, then learning authentic influence is what will help you convert people into paying clients.

Authentic influence is about caring about what the other person cares about. It’s helping them to make an aligned decision for them to improve their life.

Think about when you’ve had a breakthrough. Often, it’s because you’ve invested in your breakthrough.

You’ve paid to go to a seminar, course or event workshop and you’ve had a breakthrough.

Having a breakthrough feels incredible and breakthroughs happen because we make a decision to take action.

Usually, that decision to take action is because someone has influenced us.

Sales is helping someone who has a problem, and showing them how you can help them solve it.

It’s not about changing someone’s mind. It’s not about convincing.

This takes the pressure off you and means you become excited to tell people what you do.

It’s so important that you know how to sell because that is what helps people improve their lives.

If you want to help more people and make a bigger difference in the world, selling is one of the most important skills that you can develop.

If you’re not converting at least 3 out of 5 sales conversations or more, there’s only one reason…

…what you’re saying is not communicating the value of what you offer to your potential client.

So in this video, I’m sharing exactly why that is, and my secrets to transforming your sales discomfort into confidence.

When it comes to having a sales conversation, there are two different camps that you can be sitting in.

Firstly, you don’t have a structure. There’s no formula to what you’re doing, you’re going with the flow. You’re winging it.

Secondly, you could have a structure or a formula or a script that you’re following, but it’s either not working, it’s not aligned to you, or you’re not fully following it.

If you’re not following the script that you have – that’s a sign it might not be authentic to you.

Sales is a very male-dominated industry.

And a lot of sales people are pushy.

What I’ve discovered from working with thousands of women, is that women want to sell differently.

We’re typically more relational. And we need a way of selling that feels elegant and aligned to us.

From selling my services for 20 years, I’ve discovered that if you want to be successful at enrolling clients, you definitely need a proven formula – but not just any formula – you need the right formula.

There are two issues I see female coaches make when it comes to selling.

Issue 1: Friend-zoning

What a lot of people do Friend-zone – losing a lot of sales

We do that because we don’t know what to say next in a way that doesn’t sound confronting or pushy or sales.

If they’re not following a structure, people go off on tangents and you don’t know how to bring them back.

People don’t feel safe and led – confident that you are organised in your knowledge and you have a clear process to get them a result.

Issue 2: Too Scripted

Following a script – but it’s too rigid – it’s not who you are.

You feel ridiculously uncomfortable and awkward and it feels too forced scripted.

What I realised is that if the script is too rigid, you go into weird energy and people pick up on it.

So there has to be some structure – but also the freedom to be you.

As I started analysing people’s sales processes, I realised that there were gaps.

Some of the gaps I noticed in people who weren’t following a formula were:

They would spend a long time on a call with a potential client, but they didn’t help them make a decision.

They didn’t have conviction that their offer is the next best step for that person to take.

They were very casual and ‘jumped out’ of the conversation when it came to talking about money.

You told them to think about it, or just rushed past the part where you helped them make a decision.

If you want to be friends with this person, be friends with them.

If you want to help them transform their life for the better, make them a great offer and do it boldly.

This could change their life.

Because two humans sharing from the heart shouldn’t feel scripted and robotic.

I like to think of a formula like a chocolate mould. You can pour all different types of chocolates and toppings in there to your hearts content…

…but the framework, the structure stays the same. It makes it easy to follow and enjoyable and effective.

There are 2 solutions for this.

The first is to optimise your offer to make sure that it’s irresistible.

Having an irresistible offer is one of the most important assets you can have in business.

And creating an offer where people clearly see the value (and don’t question the price!) is one of the most important things you can do in business.

Step two is have a formula for sharing your offer that’s authentic, proven and is a toolkit of ideas you can draw from – so you can be creative within your sales conversations, while also knowing that it will convert to clients.

This is why I created the Authentic Enrolment Formula. It’s a perfect blend between being a credible, trustworthy leader, and your authentic, natural self.

It’s not a script, it’s a formula.

This allows you to still be human. And expertly lead people to a solution.

P.S. Whenever you’re ready… here are 4 other ways I can help you grow your business:

1. Work with me to get more clients

The Most Effective Way To Enrol Clients Without Doing Sales Calls

Do you want to grow your coaching business, and make a bigger impact in the world?

But you DON’T love sales calls?

You enjoy working on your business. You enjoy coaching people…

…but the thought of sales calls is not your idea of fun?

The good news is, there is another way to get clients and in this video I shared how to do it.

You can access the video here:

It’s easy to assume there are things we just have to ‘suck it up’ in our business. Even if we don’t enjoy them. And that can be the case when we’re starting out.

But YOU are the CEO of your business. You get to choose how you want to run it. And as you progress further in business, you want to scale and leverage your time more.

But, if you don’t have a predictable way of getting clients without 1-on-1 sales conversations, then you’re stuck.

Firstly, I want to explain something when it comes to client attraction. This is a really simple way to look at it.

There are 3 ABC’S to getting clients:

A – ATTRACT

Being able to attract your avatar (your ideal client) is the first step.

This means we have to understand our ideal client and what gets their attention.

We need to hone our skill of crafting our language in ‍a precise way that resonates with OUR people.

B – BUILD trust

Trust is the glue that holds relationships together.

Without trust, it’s impossible to get clients.

So many people lose sales because they don’t have the trust established.

The interesting thing about trust is that you can’t CONVINCE someone to believe you’re trustworthy.

You have to EARN trust.

I like to think of it like this – trust is stored & nurtured in someone’s emotional account.

You make deposits into your followers’ emotional accounts by providing value to them.

Then they exchange that trust when they engage with you & buy from you.

So, how do you develop more trust with your followers?

There’s one way to build trust I’ve found that trumps everything. And that is EARNING TIME.

People don’t just give their time for free. We’ve got to exchange value for their attention.

If you don’t have time with someone, it’s almost impossible to get them to trust you.

C – CONVERT

How do you convert people into clients?

How do you earn people’s time when we’re so distracted online?

You need a way to invite people to make a decision and take action to work with you, in a way that’s elegant and authentic.

There are only 3 ways to convert people in clients:

1 – 1-to-1
2 – 1-to-many – inviting people in a group
3 – None-to-many

If you’re dedicated to growing your coaching business, and want to do it without doing endless 1-on-1 sales calls…

…but you want more clients consistently, the most effective way to do it is to enrol multiple people into your program at once.

And the BEST way to do it, is by running online events.

A conversion event allows you to maximise the list of leads you’ve created from your funnel, present your offer to a group of people and convert the right-fit people into clients.

When you have an event, the need, the trust, the desire, the emotions, the likeability, the formula – all those things that people need to be in there to make a buying decision are all in one presentation.

It’s by far the most effective strategy for coaches.

You’ve heard about running events before, no doubt.

But there’s a reason why you’re currently not doing them. Or doing them at the level that you want to.

My suggestion is to write that reason down.

Then ask yourself just one question “Am I happy with that reason?”

One of my clients signed up 10 clients and made five-figures in just 90 minutes.

When you have a conversion event, it does the selling for you, so you don’t need to do any sales calls.

With this skill – you can make money anytime, anywhere – & that’s a priceless asset.

We build trust faster, when we can see a person, look at their mannerisms and feel if they’re authentic and genuine, which is hard to do just reading words on a page.

That’s really great news if you like talking about what you love!

When you know how to deliver effective events…

You significantly leverage your time.

You create credibility and trust. You position yourself as the expert, go-to person in your ideal client’s mind.

You have a system to sign up clients whenever you want them.

You build deeper relationships with people who love what you’re sharing.

And people choose you over other options because they have trust in you.

It takes courage and it takes preparation because you have to organise your knowledge.

It’s the system that’s going to save you years in the long run.

When you organise your knowledge, and package it up correctly, then you truly can have a business at home that makes lots of money and helps a lot of people.

If you’re willing to run online events (even if you don’t currently know how),you’ll create an incredibly valuable asset.

It allows you to leverage your time, be seen as an expert, and share to multiple people at once, so you can enrol new clients consistently and predictably.

Getting clients without sales calls is simple once you know how.

But without a strategy, it’s not easy.

It’s not just knowing that events are the thing that gets clients. It’s knowing how to do events so they convert clients.

Anyone can sit at home and put up an event on Eventbrite and Facebook – that’s easy.

But knowing how to use events to convert followers into clients, that’s where most people need help.

You might be thinking – “I’d love to run an online event, but it feels overwhelming and I don’t know where to start”.

That’s why I’m sharing the exact formula for how to do this in my upcoming

free Live Online Workshop ‘How To Get Coaching Clients With Easy Marketing’.

I’m sharing:

* How to create compelling content that connects with potential clients & inspires them to want to work with you

* How to effortlessly automate your lead generation with my simple 4-step marketing funnel

This workshop takes the best of what I’ve learned from running over 400 events and lays it all out in a simple formula.

So if you’ve ever wanted to share your message with MORE people …

Or if you’ve ever wanted a proven system that’s easy to follow to increase your income and help more people…

Then I think you’re going to absolutely LOVE this workshop.

How To Get More Clients From Your Social Media

If you’re a business owner, the main purpose of sharing content on social media is to attract people who not only engage with your content, but are excited to sign up for your services.

Investing time and effort into crafting content, without getting clients from it can feel discouraging.

Believe me, I get it.

But with the right strategy, you can get clients consistently from social media.

And you don’t need to…

➡️ Be constantly hanging out in Facebook groups

➡️ Post every day

➡️ Have a huge audience

➡️ Get loads of likes and comments on every post

➡️ Be on every social media platform

The truth is, you can create a successful coaching business WITHOUT any of these things. ❤️

What you need instead is a compelling content strategy that accelerates the connection and trust with your audience.

That’s how you become a Coach that people want to work with.

If you don’t know how to turn your social media followers into coaching clients…

1. You waste so much time creating content that doesn’t get any results

2. You feel like you’re a failure when you’re not

3. You don’t reach the right people who need your services – so you don’t more clients and grow your business

The online business world is changing so fast with more and more people becoming coaches and heading online to do business.

That means, that we as coaches need to level up the way we engage with our audience, communicate our value, and create our online content.

To get more clients from your social media, your content needs to be compelling. It needs to repel the wrong people, and compel the right people.

Access the video here:

If you get this right…

1. Your audience will grow with raving fans that love you

2. More people will reach out to you in your DM’s and emails who are interested in what you do

3. You’ll attract more soul mate clients fast and consistently

So how do we do this?

Here are 5 powerful ways you can create more compelling content so you can get more clients from your social media.

1. Speak more about outcomes than methods

A big mistake that people make on social media is speaking too much about the methods or the processes of what they do in their marketing.

Marketing should focus more on the outcome. Sell the dream.

For example – if you’re a health coach, sharing too many details about the specific foods to eat or avoid.

Or the specific exercises to do.

Rather than focusing on how good someone will feel to have a flat stomach.

Giving away your method and process secrets makes it too obvious and makes you come across less valuable.

It’s also very important to share – WHY your value is important for them to know

It’s more that tips and tricks.

You can still share valuable content – but focus on inspiring someone to want to change – rather than telling them what to do.

For example –

If you’re a business coach that teaches how to run Facebook ads, in your free marketing, don’t share too much about the technicalities of what to specifically do in Facebook ads.

Share content that shifts someone’s incorrect belief about ads to why ads are so powerful.

They need to pay for the steps on how to personally make it work for them in their business.

2. Build trust with evidence, education, and experience

Anyone can open up an IG account now – it doesn’t make you an expert. We can’t assume that people know that they can trust us. We need to prove it.

It’s not a reliable strategy to just know that you’re trustworthy.

Drop a y for yes if you think of yourself as a trustworthy person?

Most people do, right?

But it’s not enough. You have to take it an extra step.

You have to be intentional SHOW you’re trustworthy in the marketplace.

This is a completely different thing.

It’s only if we are PERCEIVED as trustworthy that people want to work with us.

We can show we’re trustworthy to the marketplace by positioning ourselves as an expert in their minds.

I recommend you do this by sharing 3 E’s consistently:

Experience
Evidence
Education

We can’t just say ‘Do this, do that’

We need to back it up and support what we’re saying.

That’s how you build trust.

3. Use your content to shift beliefs

If you want to turn your followers into coaching clients, you need to shift beliefs using your content.

You might be wondering – how do I do that?

Belief-Shifting Content shifts someone’s specific belief about your topic – their perception, their way of thinking.

It could be the true cause of their problem…

…what they’re currently doing to solve their problem…

or what they need to do to solve their problem.

For example – A lot of coaches believe – “If I just keep doing what I’m doing, eventually it will work”

Whereas I want to show them a better way.

Or they might believe they need to create MORE content. When the truth is, the best results come from changing the way you create content – what you say and how you say it.

A lot of people have the misconception that valuable content is giving tips.

Value is so much more than tips. Value is when someone sees something differently.

It’s when they get a new perspective on something.

We show them that we have what it takes to fill the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

The coaches who take the time to do this and don’t just post for posting sake…

…but are strategic in their social media are the ones who get clients.

This is about taking the time to craft well-thought out, well-worded content.

A lot of people aren’t doing that.

They don’t want to spend the time on it, or they don’t know how to do it.

When you understand the driving forces of your ideal clients – their frustrations, fears, dreams and desires – your content needs to reflect that.

If people aren’t taking action on your content, there’s one thing you can do that will change that. It’s to shift beliefs.

If people need what you offer and have the resources to buy it, there’s typically only one reason they’re not responding to your content or reaching out to work with you.

It’s because they don’t yet believe they can get the result that you offer.

That’s why we need to shift beliefs using our content.

4. Be opinionated

Sharing your opinion can really help you show the difference between you and others.

Think about why people should listen to YOU over someone else who does what you do.

What do you always say to your friends or peers about your topic?

What messages do you want to repeat?

Share what you stand for and stand against.

This positions you as a leader

It compels the right people and repels the wrong people.

Share your values and beliefs and perspectives on things.

If you have factual data and evidence supporting what you’re saying, it will be much more powerful. Go all in.

Some people call this being contrarian.

The meaning of contrarian is – “a person who takes a contrary position, or a person who opposes or rejects popular opinion.”

Show why your approach is different and why it works better.

For example, I often share that if you’re a coach and you don’t have thousands of followers, right now you probably don’t need to be doing influencer-style marketing where you’re sharing about your life constantly.

We’ve got to be so careful with what we’re influenced by and weigh it up based on the stage we’re at in our business journey.

There are loads of strategies that gurus are recommending that can be very distracting and suck a lot of unnecessary time based on where you’re at in your business journey right now.

For example:

Posting Instagram stories 3-5x a day
Sending Cold DM’s
Hiring an appointment setter to book calls for you
Getting PR or media exposure
Sharing a Reel every day
Advertising on other people’s websites
Having other people’s advertising on your website
Writing a book
Trying to go viral
Creating a podcast
Sharing on Pinterest

There – that was an example of being opinionated.

Think about how you can show more contrast in your business.

What are you teaching NOT to do? What are you standing against?

5. Move people along the client journey

We want to encourage people not to just be passive consumers, but action-takers as a result of what they read or watch from us.

If our content doesn’t inspire people to take action, then it’s not influencing them to move along the client journey.

There should always be a next step.

A lot of opportunities are missed by not inviting an action step at the end of your content.

I love what Denise Duffield Thomas says in her book ‘Chillpreneur’ – “Be consistent. Share what you know and make offers.”

Simple.

Most of your pieces of content should inspire action.

Otherwise, they could just be nice thoughts or interesting information, which can add to the noise.

Every content piece should be chipping away at the limiting beliefs or the resistance or the blocks people have to taking action.

Your content strategy is a series of pieces of content that do that.

It’s about building trust, nurturing, and supporting people.

When you know how to create content that people want to consume…

* You impact more lives

* More people reach out who want to work with you

* Your content turns your followers into your clients

So how do you create a system that gets you amazing clients on repeat – predictably and reliably?

You can use this to help you plan an epic year. You can use this at the start of a year, and you can use it any time – you don’t have to wait for a new year.

A lot of us set goals. But so many times it ends there.

Just dreaming or setting goals without planning often means you end up disappointed.

Creating a clear plan can evoke a sense of excitement & inspiration.

The important part of planning is making sure it’s enjoyable, fun, and taps into your uniqueness.

The challenge if you DON’T have a clear plan to follow is…

1. You feel behind the 8 ball

You feel like you’re chasing after your tail, you feel lost, you’re not sure what you should be doing each day.

You keep repeating the same unhelpful patterns you had last year. Habits don’t change without intention and effort.

I understand we also need to leave room for spontaneity and flow – that’s important and we don’t want a rigid plan that makes us feel restricted.

A plan that you create when you’re in a good state and when you have time and space to think clearly means you tap into higher wisdom and your highest self and you can make choices intentionally.

2. You live in reaction mode rather than creation mode

3. You waste time

Our dream year doesn’t just happen by default. If we don’t plan our year by design – the likelihood it’s going to happen go waaaaay down.

Here’s why…

The opportunity if you DO have a clear plan to follow is…

1. You have a clear pathway to follow

Crafting a clear plan serves as a roadmap for success & guides your actions.

2. You feel in control and know what you’re doing

To navigate the year successfully, it helps to get super clear on what you want & make a well-defined plan to achieve it.

3. You create momentum

Once you have momentum, you become unstoppable. You feel inspired, energised

Here are the 5 ways I do it…

1. Ask yourself uplevel questions

Reflective questions are a helpful way to decide what you want to leave behind, & what you want to bring into your new season.

This allows you to be intentional in shaping your goals & actions for the coming year.

This paves the way for a purposeful & transformative journey of personal growth & fulfilment throughout the year.

2. Take a Business Health Snapshot

Each month, I rate 8 pillars in my business a green, yellow or red.

My clients also do this in my Inner Circle Community as a way to keep track of progress in our business.

This traffic-light system helps you to visually see at a glance what areas to focus on next.

3. Identify The Gaps

It’s important to consider the different areas of your business and brainstorm where there are leakages and what action steps could help plug those gaps.

Businesses almost always have gaps, especially when you’re growing. There’s always lots to create and improve on.

But it’s important to take a strategic approach and prioritise which gaps are most important to plug in what order.

Rather than adding more to our to-do list, often a more strategic approach is required to stop to plug the holes where time/money/leads/energy is being wasted.

This is a GREAT use of our time.

4. Set Success Intentions

I create intentions that go beyond a checklist of tasks & want you want to do, but also who you want to BE.

It’s also about focusing on things like the impact you want to make in people’s lives, the qualities you want to embody, & the values you want to prioritise.

This encourages a deliberate alignment with what is most important to you.

These intentions serve as a guiding light, powerfully influencing your mindset + choices & bring excitement & fulfilment.

5. Prioritise The Big Rocks

You’re probably familiar with the analogy of placing the big rocks in a jar first.

By prioritising the most important activities in our calendar first, we ensure that the ‘jar’ of our life is filled with the most significant things.

Otherwise, it can be crowded with numerous smaller things that may not be fulfilling, meaningful, or aligned with our overarching vision.

1. The sequence of how I arrange my ‘BIG ROCKS’ in my annual calendar (in order) is:

2. Holidays, Rest Days, & Thinking Days

3. Important social events

4. Client events

5. Marketing events

6. Education & training
