The Annual Business Success Planner

A lot of people start dreaming about what they want for the following year.

But so many times it ends there. They don’t plan how to make it happen.

Without a plan, many dreams die.

With the planning I do with my clients, we turn dreams into tangible actions so we actually achieve them.

If you want your business to grow month after month next year…we’ve got some planning to do.

If you’re thinking…“Kat, I’m not good at planning.”

I get it. Neither was I.

My sister Vicki (the most future-focused person I know) once said to me “What do you imagine for next year?”

I was embarrassed to admit it.

I hadn’t imagined anything.

Let alone planned for it.

I realised I didn’t have a process for planning.

So what did we do? We started planning my next year.

It CHANGED my year. And my life!

Being able to dream and plan your year out in one go…

…then spending the next year just doing what you planned… it’s very freeing.

You feel in FULL control over your year.

But it took a change of mindset.

A mindset of planning how to achieve what I want and being intentional to create it.

Rather than “seeing what happens”

And it was worth it.

Now, I want to help you do the same.

Because planning is like laying out a pathway for 2023.

The moment you come back from your holiday break, you just get back on the path and keep going.

You don’t lose momentum.

Talking about this gets me so EXCITED for next year!

If planning feels like an overwhelming task to you… I’ve got you.

In this video I share:

The Annual Success Planner

It’s a 5 step framework to help you map out your business dreams, goals, and actions.

You can check out the video here…
The annual business success planner

Here’s the Annual Success Planner Framework:

1. Dream

This is a ‘WHAT you want’ list, not HOW you’re going to get it. Consider what you want to achieve, be, do, have, eliminate, reduce, and improve.

Include personal dreams in this list that affect your business – YOU are the most important asset in your business!

Here are 3 great questions that can help you with this process:

  • What would I do in my business if I knew I could not fail?
  • What would I do if I had all the time and resources I needed?

What would I do if I had all the courage and self-belief I needed?

2. Goals

Turn your dreams into goals. There are no rules on how many goals you set.

Choose what feels both inspiring and doable for you.

Some of the things you want don’t have a time frame, because they are habits. These goals don’t have an end time frame.

Results goals typically are achievements and have an end date (like publishing a book.)

For each goal, write down why it’s important to you. This will strengthen your desire to achieve the goal when the going gets tough.

Having compelling reasons why you want to achieve your goals helps you pursue them, and it’s a good way to check they’re aligned with your values.

3. How

These are the things you need to do specifically to make your goals happen.

Here are a few examples:

  • Be consistent in my content creation
  • Create a new lead magnet every quarter
  • Have daily conversations with ideal clients
  • Run a workshop every quarter

4. Action Plan

Now it’s time to create milestones and single action steps so you know exactly what to do next!

Things to consider:

  • What are the resources you need to achieve the goal?
  • What systems will support the goals?
  • Am I covering all areas of business?
For example content creation, community, website, email, video, social media, finances, processes & systems, team, skill development and so on.

Example Action Plan

1. What is your #1 desired outcome for the next 30-90 days?

Get 10 new coaching clients

2. What is 1 goal to achieve this outcome?

Run a workshop

5. Review

It’s unlikely your plan is going to be perfect the first time you write it, so block out time in your calendar to REGULARLY revisit your goals and plan.

Make sure your calendar includes actions that lead to your goals.

Read through this planner and make any notes and changes to your goal list and action plan and adjust any times in your calendar to do the actions.

Progression is the goal, not perfection.

You will experience setbacks and that’s ok. Relax, smile, and keep going.

I hope this has been super helpful for you.

The Content Sweet Spot That Appeals To All Buying Types

Do you want to know how to create content that deeply resonates with your soul-mate clients?

When you’re creating content and it’s not leading to clients, it can feel disheartening.

One reason people don’t convert their content into clients is because they’re only creating content ONE way.

They aren’t appealing to multiple buying types.

Most of us have been told to focus on ONE person – one avatar.

I understand why this is taught, and it can have its benefits.

However, the reality is – we are never just speaking to one person.

MULTIPLE people read your content and watch your videos.

Meaning, there are…

  • Multiple personality types
  • Multiple learning styles
  • Multiple delivery preferences
  • Multiple buying types

Yes – it’s important to be your true authentic self.

It’s also important to remember that there are multiple ways of people absorbing what you share.

You can be YOU and also share YOU in different ways.

And that you can serve MANY different people who are wired differently to you.

This is about being adaptable and flexible to the people who can benefit from our content. It’s being client-centric in our approach.

If you want to get more clients, you need to make sure you are appealing to a range of different people’s preferences.

This means you need to FORGET about just having ONE avatar…

…and appeal to multiple buying-types, so that you don’t miss out on reaching 75% of your audience.

In this video I share:

The Content Sweet Spot That Appeals To All Buying Types

It’s a simple, powerful tool you can use to identify where you’re sitting in the ‘Content Spectrum.‘

…and which of the 10 dials you need to turn up or down in order to attract more of your right-fit clients.

You can check out the video here…

The Content Sweet Spot

StrongWarm
ProfessionalPersonal
LogicalEmotional
CredibilityHumility
PainPleasure
Which side does your content sit more on?

Are there ways you’d like your content sit more in the middle sweet spot?

When you know how to use elegant influence to create compelling content…

…your marketing becomes easier, faster, and more enjoyable, and you show up with more confidence.

You connect better with your ideal clients and you attract more of the right clients into your business that you can help.

Take care my friends and remember – Keep showing up. Keep sharing.

The world is waiting for your words. They matter…

How To Know If You’re Giving Too Much Value Away For Free

I’ve been asked this question a lot lately…

How do we know how much to share… without giving too much away?

We’re all told – give value, value, value!

What does giving value actually mean?

And how do you know if you’re giving away too much value for free?

How do we help people, without them feeling they don’t need to buy from us?

How do we share in a way that people think, “I need more from her?”

If we give people a sense that we’re giving them everything in our free content, people won’t buy from us.

Here are 3 powerful keys to knowing if you’re giving too much away…

1. You’re not highlighting the gap

I like to say ‘Show the gaps, don’t fill the gaps”

Our content needs to show people what they need and what’s missing.

This is super important.

When people are deciding what content they want to share, a lot of times think “What can I teach that’s valuable?”

Then they post it hoping it will lead to people wanting to work with them.

They hope that people will enjoy it and want MORE.

Rather than showing them what is missing.

And this leads to people consuming your content for free and not wanting to work with you.

2. You’re giving a banquet, not a taste

It’s so important that we show people what they DON’T know.

The way to overcome this is giving what I call value-voids.

Share value, leave a void.

content that converts is designed to BOTH relieve tension AND create tension.

False sense of solution I’m going to give you everything I know.

One of the pillars of my content formula is curiosity. If we give people a sense of resolution, we rob them of curiosity

3. You’re not using influence strategically

You need to learn how to use influence so that your content works.

When you learn the layers of how to do it – you can be so much more certain that your content will work.

It will do its job.

Infusing Influence into your content is thinking:

  • What do you want your content to do?
  • What do you want your topic to do?
  • What’s the purpose of the content?

In this video I share:

How to know if you’re giving away too much for free – and what to do about it.

You can check out the video here…

There’s a strategic way of adding value.

There’s an influential way to structure.

How to use headlines – there’s an approach. In my event, I go deeper.

Always work with contrast. This is what they do without thinking.

Value is not the thing…

…Not ONLY value – too much value…

“Value is not, here’s everything I know.”

Often – particularly as women we feel we need to prove our worth by giving so much value that we confuse teaching with value.

If you give everything away and they don’t act on it. Then you’re devaluing it and it’s not value.

You only know if something is good if you can compare them.

If you’re missing this one thing (tension)

What IS value?

Every time we teach something new there’s a responsibility to help someone apply. Otherwise, it fizzles out – and they don’t do it.

People think “oh cool I get this.”

Yet are you teaching them how to implement – and getting them excited to implement – and getting rid of the beliefs holding them back from implementation?

WHEN YOU GET THIS RIGHT

  1. People aren’t reaching out to you or responding to your emails or messages
  2. People tell you how valuable your content is, but don’t sign up for your program or offer

1. Show People

So, what are you actually selling then?

When you package your knowledge for sale, you’re actually offering 3 valuable components that are massively more valuable than just content.

I call these The 3 Essential C’s

  • Curriculum – The complete A to Z curriculum
  • Coaching – The coaching and guidance from you as an expert
  • Community – The support from a group of like-minded people doing the same journey

1. Curriculum – we know there’s a ton of information out there on the internet.

Having an A to Z journey is completely different. This enables you to trust the credibility

2. Offering all the content in one place with a logical, sequential approach that gives a specific outcome so people can’t get distracted or lost is extremely valuable.

People pay for a path.

3. Coaching – Let’s face it. There are so many questions like “Which headline is better.” Being able to ask an expert with experience and wisdom is priceless.

4. Community – No one wants to do it alone. When you create a thriving community – that’s what people want.

Influence is a craft you can learn.

If there’s one key point I want you to take away, it’s this:

When you know how to use elegant influence to create compelling content, your marketing becomes easier, faster, and more enjoyable, and you show up with more confidence.

You connect better with your ideal clients and attract more right clients into your business that you can help.

The good news is, it’s a skill that anyone can develop.

How To Create Content That People Will Want To Read

Do you want to know how to write content that people really want to read?

It’s simple when you know how.

Many people are frustrated that their content isn’t getting them clients, and when I look at their content, I can see why.

There are crucial things that are missing.

Content that makes people want to read has certain ingredients and if you miss them, you can miss out on clients.

When you know the secrets, it can almost seem like magic!

But it’s not.

It’s knowing the ingredients that make content compelling.

If you don’t know how to write content that people want to read

1. You end up wasting so much time. You don’t want to spend hours and not get a return on your investment of time.

2. You feel disappointed and discouraged when you don’t get the result you hoped for.

3. Your content doesn’t do its job of building your business. Content is ultimately meant to lead to you getting clients.

When you KNOW how to write content that people want to read

  1. You impact more lives.

2. More people reach out to you. Your content turns your followers into your clients.

3. Meaning, you never have to worry about how to get clients or how to make money again.

In this video I share:
3 ways to write content that people will want to read.
You can check out the video here…

1. Use green language, not red language

There are certain words and phrases that attract and engage people and certain words and phrases that repel people.

What makes language green?

It appeals to the subconscious desires that your audience has.

There are loads of subconscious desires that we all have – I’ll give you a few here that are really powerful to use in your content.

A Harvard study showed that 95% of our buying decisions are made subconsciously.

We typically make decisions based on emotion, and we justify our emotional decision and back it up with logic.

There are words you can use that trigger an emotional response.

The FEM Triad

1. Faster – The desire for speed – faster – things to happen in less time

2. Easier – The desire for ease – to save effort, energy and exertion

3. More – The desire for increase – growth – novelty – different – drama – curiosity – novelty

If you can show someone how to make things faster, make things easier and get more of what they want with your content it will definitely make people want to keep reading.

This means we need to know what our ideal audience wants – and give it to them.

2. Share about pain killers not vitamins

If you want to write so that people read, and speak so that people listen, you need to share in a way that shows them that they need something.

I’m going to say that again because it’s so powerful.

Share in a way that shows them that they need something.

A vitamin is something that’s good for you. We take them for future health benefits. Often we forget to take them. We think we should. We don’t notice if we miss it.

Vitamin content is missed. It makes people tune out.

If you have an extremely debilitating headache you don’t need reminding or being convinced or advertised to. You go looking for a painkiller.

  • What is the pain your people are in?
  • What is the pain killer that your clients are looking for?

And how can you provide that for them…

…that’s when people sit on the edge of their seats.

That’s when people seek you out.

3. Help people overcome barriers to action

One of my clients said to me once; “Kat, I’m thinking I need to post more funny stuff on my Facebook business page because the funny stuff gets the most likes.”

I’m not sure if you’ve fallen into that trap before, but likes are not the goal. Getting people to take the next step towards you is the goal – the step towards becoming a paid client.

You want to ensure your content helps people to actually take action to change their life, not just to entertain them.

‘How To’ videos are everywhere on the internet.

It’s the most searched term on Google. But we’ve got to remember, that it’s not just about people learning.

It’s about people doing. It’s about people taking action on what you’re teaching them.

When you’re thinking about your content for your social media, ask yourself; ‘How can I help people overcome their resistance to changing?’

‘How can I have them overcome their biggest objections to taking action on what I’m sharing?’

Then use your content to overcome these.

Hope this has been useful.

Big love,

Kat xo

3 Scientifically Proven Elements Your Content Needs To Get More Leads

If you want to get more leads and clients from your content, it’s important to understand influence.

Not only understand it, but use it ethically, elegantly, and effectively.

Frank Kern, one of the top marketers in the world said,

“Inspiring people to put their hard-earned money into your
pocket instead of theirs is one of the hardest things to do.”

When you know how to influence elegantly, you can get people to cross what I call the decision bridge.

The decision bridge is between where someone is right now and taking the next step towards you.

Your potential paying clients are standing at the decision bridge and influence is the bridge that takes them to the other side of working with you.

Your potential paying clients are standing at the decision bridge and influence is the bridge that takes them to the other side of working with you.

In this video, I share:
‘3 Scientifically Proven Elements Your Content Needs To Grow More Leads.’

And how to create influential content from the very inventor of the art, Aristotle.

You can check out the video here…

I read a quote recently by Peter Cunningham, from Geneva Leadership Alliance. He said, “You can learn all the knowledge in the world about the changes you want to make, but if you can’t influence other people, you will only have frustration to look forward to.”

Knowing proven influence principles can change everything for you and business.

The best part is that being able to get clients from our content is not reserved for a gifted few. Anyone can learn how to do it.

The 3 scientifically-proven elements that you can use to create influential content come from Aristotle.

Aristotle was a Greek philosopher, and one of the founding fathers of communication theory.

Aristotle believed that persuasion occurs when 3 components are represented: ethos, logos, and pathos.

1. Influence with Ethos

The first principle of influential content, according to Aristotle, is ethos, or ethics.

Ethics are what make your audience feel they can trust you.

Trust is exchanged between people much like a currency, it can be given and received. Trust can be built up over time, but once you’ve lost it, trust is hard to rebuild. It’s not impossible to rebuild, however, it just takes a lot of work.

Trust forms the basis of all human relationships and the extent to which you have influence is largely based on the extent to which people trust you and you are willing to trust them.

If you keep your integrity, treat your clients well, and be totally honest, you will maintain your credibility.

This means it’s essential to show your credibility.

You show your credibility through:

 1.  Personal branding

2.  Having confidence in your delivery

3.  Providing real value

“Reputation over money. Every time.“

2. Influence with Pathos: Emotional Content

Aristotle’s second tool of persuasion is pathos, which is the use of emotion.

Without pathos, content would just be a list of facts and no one likes to be bored by plain facts alone.

Some psychologists believe that using human reasoning is simply an attempt to justify your emotional decisions. Whether this is right or not, emotions have the power to trigger action.

The concept of branding is mainly based on brands’ ability to cause emotional reactions and responses to these reactions.

Most people tend to buy emotionally and back it up with logic. Emotions definitely have the power to trigger us to take action.

You use emotions in your content through:

a) Telling stories

b) Inspirational quotes

c) Using vivid language

3. Influence with Logos: Logical Content

Aristotle’s third rule is logos, which is also known as reason.

You can do this through…

1.  The structure of your content

2.  Your referencing of studies, statistics, and case studies

3.  Using comparisons, analogies, and metaphors

Structure helps people stay engaged and keep reading.

If your content does not have logic, and a clear flow, it can feel like it’s disjointed. If it follows a clear, sequential flow, it is easier for people to take in.

Aristotle’s 3 lessons of rhetoric fundamentally address how human beings are influenced.  Ethos, pathos and logos have had the ability to influence people throughout the centuries.

In the words of Aristotle himself, “The art of persuasion lies in knowing how to combine these three principles in the right amounts.”

This is the fun, creative side of the process.

There are multiple ways to influence the brain, I’ve just shared 3 of them here.

If you

Take care my friends and remember – Keep showing up. Keep sharing.

The world is waiting for your words. They matter…

Big love
