All else being equal, when you double your leads, you double your impact and income.

When leads flow, it’s hard to not make money.

How to get consistent leads without reaching out to strangers

The only 4 ways that we can let anyone know about what we do are:

  • 1:1 to a warm audience – warm outreach
  • 1:many to a warm audience – sharing content
  • 1:1 to a cold audience – cold outreach
  • 1:many to a cold audience – paid ads

Most coaches that I work with don’t want to start with cold outreach.

Most of us want to get clients through word of mouth and referrals. It’s every business owner’s dream – getting clients without having to do anything except look after your current clients really well.

Referrals can be part of your business growth strategy, but I don’t view it in the same way as a lead-generation strategy, because it’s harder to control and almost impossible to solely rely on if you want to be successful long-term.

So how do I personally get leads consistently, without reaching out to strangers?

I share compelling content consistently.

One of the biggest mistakes I see coaches and experts making is that they’re not connecting with their audience in a compelling way.

When you develop your skill of content creation, you educate your audience, build trust with them, and show the right people that you’re the right person to help them. 

If you do this, it’s like having a secret weapon that you can use whenever you need it.

Your email list and followers will grow daily.

When you turn your knowledge into compelling content that the right people just can’t ignore…

…it’s impossible not to get leads consistently into your business.

The purpose of content is to provide value. And if your content is valuable and people connect with you, they are often inspired to take a next step towards you.

Whether that’s…

  • Joining your Facebook group
  • Subscribing to your email list
  • Registering for your workshop
  • Booking in for a strategy session
  • Sending you a message and starting a conversation

The good news is that creating compelling content is a learned skill that anyone can develop. None of us were born knowing how to do this.

A lot of people say to me they’ve tried to get clients and it hasn’t worked. And when I ask them what they’ve done, it’s usually very little valuable content creation.

You might feel like you’re working really hard and long. But are you producing a high volume of valuable, compelling content consistently?

You might be wondering – What is compelling?

–> Compelling content is crafted to speak directly to your ideal clients’ frustrations, fears, dreams, and desires.

Compelling means that it moves people.

There’s a big difference between content that gets ‘likes’…

…and content that inspires people to want to continue to follow you and binge on your content.

As you develop this skill, you start to enjoy creating content more and reap the benefits of the right people responding to your content…

…and moving along your pathway to becoming a client.

If you have an effective content strategy:

  • You stop stressing about what to share and finally feel on top of your content
  • You have a simple system to follow, like a paint-by-numbers
  • You finally start getting clients from your content

There are 3 elements I make sure are in my content strategy – if you miss these you might find that:

  1. You miss out on reaching 75% of your audience who are wired differently to you
  2. Your content can get lost online
  3. Your content doesn’t resonate with your soulmate clients

The 3 elements of a good content strategy are:

1. Diversity

There are 20 different content types that my clients and I use and we rotate them to speak to different types of people because each piece of content has a different purpose.

Some posts are to attract and engage. Some posts are to build trust, nurture and invite more interaction. Some posts are to convert. Some posts are delivery posts for our clients.

There are 5 different categories of content I recommend:

  • Engage
  • Educate
  • Edutain
  • Enlighten
  • Exchange

When it comes to diversity, I also share both written content and video because people like consuming content in different ways.

Remember, your audience is made up of many different types of people.

I know we’ve been told for years in the marketing world: write to one person,  speak to one person.

I get why people teach this. But really, we’re never just speaking to one person. We are speaking to lots of different people. That’s the reality.

We want to make sure that we’re taking an audience-centric approach.

It’s not about us – it’s about our audience.

2. Consistency

You’ve probably heard this before. You probably know that it’s important. Are you doing it?

If you don’t have a strategy that you STICK to that includes sharing content consistently, you’ll probably find that you get to the end of the week and haven’t posted enough.

Or you have posted, but it’s not purposeful content that gets you leads.

You haven’t crafted it. It hasn’t been designed to lead people along that journey.

You might only be emailing your list every few weeks.

You might be posting when you’ve got a more quiet season and then maybe you disappear for a few months or a few weeks.

Then when you come back you’ve lost a lot of that traction and you don’t get the engagement.

When you have a consistent system, it takes a lot of the pressure away and it brings a lot of relief.

3. Intentionality

We need to make sure every piece of content has a purpose.

A lot of people post content without really thinking about why.

Think about the purpose of your last 3 posts.

Was it to…

  • Get more engagement?
  • Attract more people?
  • Overcome a belief?
  • Build more connection and trust?

If your content doesn’t have a purpose, it’s hard for it to achieve the goal of attracting the right clients.

There are so many things that you need to share with someone before they will invest money in you, and that’s why you need a strategy.

To make sure you’re covering all the points. You don’t overcome objections all in one post. You don’t tell all your stories in one post.

A content journey leads your audience from one step (say a social media post) to the next (maybe giving their email address).

A lot of posts on social media, emails or blog posts, exist as a disconnected function rather than an active part of a strategy.

In summary, the way I get consistent leads without reaching out to strangers is sharing valuable content consistently and strategically.

When you know how to create compelling content, your marketing becomes easier, faster, and more enjoyable.

You connect deeper with your ideal clients and you attract more of the right people into your business that you can help.

What The Barbie Movie Doesn’t Teach Us About Business Success

One of the messages is about how women can be anything.

I enjoyed certain moments in the movie. There were some funny and nostalgic points throughout it.

However, I feel that there’s so much more to empowerment, if you want to have success and true freedom in life, where we…

* Don’t have to rely on someone else for our income

* Don’t have to go to a job that sucks our soul dry

* Can do as we please, on our own terms, and have control over our lives

It takes more than just a feeling of empowerment (and being told we can do anything).

So, as female business owners, what do we need to know about creating true freedom and success that the Barbie movie doesn’t teach us?

If we really want to live our best lives and have businesses that support us and others, there are other important elements to true and lasting empowerment.

What the Barbie Movie Doesn't Teach Us

Here are 3 essential elements to create true success in business in order to have a truly successful, passion-fuelled, profitable business you love.

There are a lot of mixed opinions about the Barbie movie.

The film is set in Barbieland, a colourful utopia where Barbies hold the positions of power such as President – and the men exist to serve them.

The set was amazing, and there were some funny and nostalgic moments. But then it got complex.

The Barbie movie tagline “You can be anything,” shows the evolution of Barbie and how she now inspires others to reach their full potential. 

But I feel there’s much more to empowerment beyond the message that women can be anything.

This is a huge subject and I’m not going deep into female empowerment here.

What I would like to talk about is my own experience and my thoughts on empowerment and what I believe it takes to be truly empowered.

So here are what I believe are 3 essential elements to create true empowerment and success in business.

1. Empowerment is more than a feeling

Hearing ‘you can do anything’ can create a feeling in your body.

It can motivate you to want to live your dreams.

Feeling empowered is awesome.

Our feelings matter. Success always starts with our thoughts and feelings.

But success is so much more than feeling empowered.

True empowerment comes when we also have the skillsets to truly be free.

Yes, dream big – but you’ve still got invest in your skills to get there.

We can’t just rely on our feelings to fuel us. Otherwise, when it gets hard then you stop.

Confidence comes from competence.

Acquiring and developing these skillsets is what allows you to have freedom, flexibility and finances to enjoy your life.

It’s hard to live our best life if we don’t have clients and we’re not making money.

And we don’t make enough money if we don’t develop our marketing skills.

If you don’t know how to create compelling online content that engages people.

If you don’t know how to create funnels that attract clients.

If you don’t how to get up in front of a group of people and share with them your organised knowledge.

If you don’t know how to inspire people to buy.

So there’s a next level for you when it comes to your marketing skillsets.

How much time are you investing each week to upskilling yourself in the areas in your marketing that are most needed?

2. Real empowerment is when everyone wins

REAL empowerment is when we’re not competing against each other.

Especially when it comes with tones of anger and contempt.

What I personally didn’t like in the Barbie movie was  that there was a lot of competition between men and women rather than collaboration in harmony.

Sometimes we need to work on our own inner strength and confidence to be able to truly celebrate other people’s success.

True prosperity thrives on inclusivity, unity, and making the world a better place.

Not seeing other people as competition.

We all win when we are all working to empower everyone around us.

3. True success is about doing the things we’re avoiding

It’s about choosing NOT to avoid the skills you need to acquire in business.

It’s being willing to do those hard things that we’ve been avoiding.

When we face those things we find hard and do them – we make a big impact.

We become a role model and an example of possibilities.

So every time we move out of your comfort zone and feel expansion, our self worth increases.

We show up more and we show up better.

That’s how you truly empower yourself and other people and become an example of possibilities.

3 Costly Content Mistakes Most Coaches Make That Prevent Them Getting Clients

If your content struggles to engage people and convert followers into clients, it usually comes down to some costly mistakes that most coaches don’t know about.

There are a lot of people out there who desperately need your expertise, but they don’t understand the value of what you provide.

It’s not ‘cause you’re not awesome, it’s because your content isn’t grabbing and keeping their attention.

If you want to attract new clients fast, learning how to create compelling content is a priority.

3 Costly Content Mistakes

Here are the 3 mistakes that could be preventing you from getting clients with your content:

1. Not sharing strategic client-getting content

Your content won’t sign clients consistently if you haven’t got an intentional plan about where each piece of content fits in your over-arching content strategy.

A lot of posts on social media, emails, or blog posts, exist as a disconnected parts rather than active components of a client-attraction funnel.

This means there’s no incentive for the audience to do anything after they’ve consumed your content.

An effective content strategy leads your audience on a journey from one step (like a social media post) to the next (e.g. providing their email address).

2. Not sharing brain-based content

Brain-based content is based on how the human brain processes information.
There are three different parts of the brain that I recommend you factor in when you’re creating content.

The first part is the hindbrain. We use this part of our brain when we first come across information. We make decisions at a subconscious level very quickly.

Content needs to be simple and clear, so there’s absolutely no doubt in that person’s mind that this is going to be a good use of their time to consume it.

The second part is the midbrain. It’s what’s known as the realm of the imagination.

This is where we need to talk to the heart-centred vision of the person. We need to talk to their emotions, not just appeal to them logically.

The third part of the brain we need to speak to with our content is the prefrontal cortex, which is the home of reasoning and logic.

This is the realm of building trust with our audience.

This is where we back up what we’re saying with evidence – great content and demonstration that you know what you’re talking about.

3. Not sharing content that inspires people to take action

I call the ability to effectively get people to take action elegant influence.

It’s about influencing your audience to take action at the end of your content and inspiring positive change for yourself and others.

Influence is NOT manipulation. It’s not about trying to convince people to do things they don’t want to do. It’s not about pushing your opinions on others.

Becoming more influential means that more people are compelled to take positive action and create positive change.

When you know how to create compelling content that people want to consume, your marketing becomes easier, and more enjoyable and effective, and you show up with more confidence.

You attract more of the right people into your business that you can help.

And ultimately, you impact more lives!
