Leads hold the power to amplify every part of your business.
When you double your leads, you double your clients – which means double your income and impact.
If you have a lot of leads, the worry of how to get more clients becomes a thing of the past.
Your ability to generate leads and convert them into buyers is a hugely valuable skill.
It means you never have to worry about how to stay in business.
A lot of coaches aren’t getting enough clients because they’re not generating enough leads.
The reality is, leads don’t magically appear; we need to be actively out there making ourselves known.

What is a lead?
If you research this, you’ll read something like “A lead is a person who has expressed interest in your product or service and is seen as a potential customer”
There are different levels of commitment and responsiveness of people who are following you.
I like to rank these from cold to warm.
A stranger who you’ve never connected with is classed as cold.
A Facebook friend is a bit warmer.
Someone following your business account on Instagram or your FB business page is even warmer. It means they are interested in the problem that you solve.
In your Facebook group – even warmer because there’s a reason why they joined the group.
On your email list – they’re warmer.
Booked into your calendar or event – they’re warmest.
In my definition, a lead is someone who is a potential ideal client who has responded to my business.
Raising your hand to a business offer is different to just connecting as a human.
So, in order to get more warm, engaged leads, we want to get them off social media and into our email list.
If we’re putting ourselves out there regularly with valuable content, our numbers should consistently be growing every week.
It’s important to look at our numbers.
How much is your email list subscribers growing every day?
You want to track your results regularly.
How do we grow our number of leads?
This is where a lead magnet comes in.
What is a lead magnet?
A lead magnet is a complete solution to a narrow problem, given away for free or at a significant discount to attract ideal clients.
It could be a resource that people download, like a cheat sheet or guide or quiz, it could be a book or a video series or a mini course, or it could be a free event.
Why create a lead magnet?
Your main offer is the service or product you exchange for money. This is what you make the most money from.
You could just show up and sell your main offer. But only a very small percentage of people will buy it.
A larger percentage of people will get the lead magnet.
It’s a lower-risk investment to spend time than money for most people.
For most people, less trust is required to give time than money.
Then, you make your main offer to a high-trust group of people who are more likely to buy.
You can just go and make your core offer and it could work, but this is how I do it.
If you think about the whole ‘try before you buy’ concept – it works in so many industries. Like test driving a car or trying food samples in shops.
Lead magnets get leads one step closer to buying your coaching.
A person who pays with their time now is more likely to pay with their money later.
It increases the ‘know, like and trust’ factor
You can get people’s contact details to continue to nurture people and market to them
They’re great for running Facebook ads to, to grow your email list and following with targeted leads
For most of you, this is not a nice-to-have – it’s a must-have to get clients.
The next step is that it’s not just having a lead magnet.
It’s about having a lead magnet that gets strangers to want to buy your coaching program.
What makes a great lead magnet that actually works?
You need to create a lead magnet that has the perfect balance between value and curiosity.
Your lead magnet needs to relieve tension and create tension. It needs to give value, AND build curiosity.
We need to create a balance between value and tension.
Tension is the chemistry of change.
For both value and curiosity, we need not too much, not too little.
If you don’t relieve the tension people have with your lead magnet, they won’t get any value.
If you relieve all their tension and leave them without curiosity, you won’t get any clients from it.
Your most valuable asset in business is not your content – it’s the goodwill of your audience.
How many subscribers in your email list is a way of measuring the goodwill of your audience, because if you don’t provide value, they won’t join your email list, and they will unsubscribe.
