Would you like to know how to write engaging content that connects with your ideal clients, authentically?
Many business owners tell me that they don't know exactly how to effectively word their content and they get stuck not knowing where to invest their time, money and efforts.
Writing effective content doesn’t have to take hours or be stressful.
It's a skill that can be developed simply with the right strategies and know-how.
In this blog post series, I’m going to be sharing 5 tips for writing content that connects.
Here's tip 1:
Be Yourself
The world is never going to stop telling us who we’re supposed to be. It will often do everything it can to convince us that we need to be more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
The marketing messages are getting louder trying to convince us to be something or someone that we’re not.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we want to create content that truly connects with our followers, we need to show up as ourselves. Our sometimes messy, imperfect, quirky selves.
Being seen as ourselves and showing up REAL is usually what our soul is craving and others are craving also. Even though it can be tough.
Being ourselves doesn’t mean being sloppy or not putting forth our best effort. It does mean that we may choose to post something that we know isn’t necessarily popular or perfect.
It could be something that shows our flaws. Or something that could be taken as bragging rather than celebrating a win or showing gratitude for something in our life.
I don’t think any of us would say we want people to like us for who we’re NOT. Deep down we want to be accepted for who we ARE.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let people see behind the scenes, into more of the real you, so they can connect with you on an intimate level.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This doesn’t mean airing your dirty laundry or your problems. It does mean expressing yourself in a way that feels genuine, authentic and your you-est you.
Share your wins and your challenges. Share parts of you that are seemingly unrelated to your business or promotions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember that connection comes when people feel that they know, like and trust you.
Real connection comes when we choose to show up in our realness – as my friend Jaimee says, in our ‘Allness’.
Messy or neat, quiet or loud, fun or serious, smart or silly, vulnerable or quirky, confused or certain.
They’re all parts of us.
Be yourself. Yourself is awesome.
