Here are 3 ways I’ve observed that a lot of people struggle with their time:
1. They’re trapped in the busy cycle
One of the biggest issues I see with a lot of coaches and experts is that they’re so busy – but not necessarily progressing towards their next goal.
They have an over-flowing to-do list that never seems to get done and not doing enough of the things that get clients, increase their cash flow, and make a significant difference.
2. They’re easily distracted
One of the biggest reasons we get distracted is because we don’t set limits & boundaries for ourselves, & we get caught up in too many things. We say say yes to too many things.
3. They don’t focus on R.G.A (Revenue Generating Activities)
RGA’s are those things that directly bring money into our bank account.
I’ve noticed a myth that a lot of people buy into. It’s subtle, but it’s sinister.
Here’s what I’ve noticed – A lot of people think their biggest problem is that they don’t have enough time. But that’s usually not the real problem.
Often time management challenges are actually mindset challenges. To change our results we need to first change our thoughts. Our thoughts create our results. Our mindset determines our reality.
Over the last 18 years in business, I’ve noticed that there are 3 main problems people face when it comes to managing their time effectively.
1. Not having a clear pathway
The first problem people face is that they don’t have a clear path. A clear pathway is a step by step strategy to get to your goal. Without this, there’s no clarity on what to do.
A clear pathway means there is clarity at every step along the path.
If you’re not clear on what you should be doing on a day-to-day basis to bring in clients, you can get caught up in other, usually easier tasks that make you feel productive.
I’ll give you some examples.
If you’re not clear on your specific niche and the exact problem you help them solve. If you don’t have clarity on that, you’ll post content that tries to speak to everyone and yet it often misses your ideal clients.
If you’re not clear on what you should say in your emails to get people to open them and respond to them.
Or you’re not clear on how to structure your videos so you get engagement and get people taking action on them.
Or how to format your content posts to get people to book in for a session with you.
And if you’re not clear on how to do all these things, you’ll get busy with busyness because you actually just don’t know exactly what you should be doing that will get you a direct line to the results you want. If you don’t have that, you get swept up in lots of little things.
Most of the time they don’t know the direct line to their goal.
A lot of business owners waste time because they don’t have effective systems.
2. Not having effective systems
They don’t have a system to create content that converts into clients.
They don’t have automation systems in their business so they wasting a lot of time on manual tasks.
They don’t have a system for regularly inviting people to their offers.
They don’t have a system for emails, videos, onboarding clients, or social media. So they burn up a lot of energy and blood glucose trying to manually juggle so many balls in the air.
If you’re not signing up clients consistently, it’s probably because you don’t have the systems in place. When you have the right systems in place, you have a clear pathway.
The third problem is perfectionism. I understand this problem intimately because I have suffered from it so much of my life.
Perfectionism is so damaging and it robs us from achieving what we really want.
There’s a big difference between excellence and perfectionism. Something can be excellent, without being perfect.
Perfection shows up in lots of different ways. Typically, perfectionism is when we overthink, overanalyse, and take way too long on tasks that could be done faster.
We forget about the big picture and obsess about the small stuff.
We know we’re getting sucked into perfectionism when we want all the ducks in a row before we take action. We overwhelm ourselves with all the details.
Trying to find the perfect way and figuring it out, wasting time researching to find the best thing, instead of taking action on something that directly moves your business forward robs us of the satisfaction of completion.
