Recently someone dumped a whole lot of Chat GPT jargon into my DM’s.
It was full of words like ‘Your passion for helping others has truly shone through and is commendable. Your journey is inspiring, and your dedication to your work and personal principles is admirable. It’s a privilege to witness your continued success’.
It got me thinking.
We don’t talk like this to strangers in person. So why talk like a robot when you’re trying to build connection with someone online?
When I asked them what the purpose of the message was, they disappeared.
AI is incredible and it’s doing amazing things in the world. I’m grateful for it.
However, when it comes to content creation, overuse of AI can be damaging if we’re using it as a tool to prioritise efficiency over connection.
This can turn content creation into a ‘tick the box’ activity that we feel we ‘should’ do, rather than something we do because we have something valuable we want to share.
There are a whole heap of voices out there telling us that we need to do XYZ or we won’t make it in business. Like posting content every day on social media…
…then it can become a ‘tick the box’ activity that we feel we ‘should’ do… rather than something that we want to do because we have something valuable that we want to share.
If you want to create content that sounds less like AI and more like a human with a soul, in this video, I share:
‘AI vs. Human-Centred Content Creation & Finding Your Voice’
Here are 3 things to consider when it comes to human-centred content creation and finding your voice…
1. Start with a heart connection with the people you’re here to serve
ChatGPT can be a helpful tool that we can use to spark ideas and help give our thoughts structure and order.
But it can also come up with a whole heap of robotic words that don’t feel inspiring or human (because they’re not!).
Time efficiency has become one of the main goals pushed on us by companies operating in hyper-masculine ways, and the heart and soul are being drowned out.
Do you really want to run your business that way?
Content creation should always start with humans. Human relationships. Human feelings.
Because robots don’t have emotions.
People don’t buy from businesses, people buy from people. We can’t have human content without humans showing up with realness and aliveness.
AI doesn’t always help create connection; it actually often does the opposite.
As A.I usage online increases, so does the need and desire for true human connection, and speaking words created originally from your own soul to another’s.
Now is the time where it’s even more important than ever to be our authentic selves in our content.
We need the specificity of your human experiences and stories.
I don’t think you got into business to outsource your expression, creativity, experience, knowledge and brilliance to a robot.
We’re human around people we trust, and we do “marketing” when we think we have no option but to subscribe to the rigid ‘rules’ of business.
Which can suck the creativity and life out of us and make us sound nothing like ourselves.
2. Use structures to support you, not suppress you
In so many cases, it’s helpful to have a structure to follow, like a formula or template.
But I believe it’s also important to explore our relationship with the structures.
A structure can help us avoid writers’ block. It can help our writing to land better with people, and it can give us ideas to help us get more of our writing into the world.
But we need to be careful not to put structures on a pedestal, as though they’re the only way. And make ourselves wrong for not following them to the letter.
If a structure helps you, it’s a good thing – vs. if it restricts you, then it could be suffocating instead of supporting your creativity.
We can have both formula AND freedom.
We can have both a framework AND creativity.
We can have both structure AND flexibility.
I’m a big believer in the both.
It’s not about throwing away structure; having the structure often allows your feminine to flow.
But it’s important that we don’t allow structures to suppress our feminine creativity and expression.
3. Your voice is found by consistently creating content
The only way to “find” your unique voice is to regularly create content.
Your voice isn’t “out there”. It’s inside you.
The more you use AI to write for you, the more your voice gets drowned out and the less your authentic expression shines through.
And the more content you create, the more you find your unique voice.
The best creators are the ones who regularly create from their own brain, rather than relying heavily on AI.
The world needs your unique way of expressing yourself.
Your people need your words in the way that only you can express them.
You are a shining light – and your words can bring hope, help, and inspiration to the people you’re here to serve.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. How do you like to use AI?
Looking forward to seeing more of your creative expression online. 🙂
Much love,
Kat xo
