I was chatting with a lady yesterday who described to me what a lot of experts struggle with.
She often finds herself at the end of the day sending emails to her clients, feeling like she constantly has to reply to ‘urgent’ demands from people.
But she gets to the end of the week and still has so many action items on her to-do list and feels torn about whether to take the weekend off.
Can you relate to this?
This is a common scenario I hear so I decided to tackle it head-on.
There are 3 main problems most business owners face when it comes to Moving From Expert To Entrepreneur:
- They spend too much time working in their business and not on it
- They don’t know their next best step
- They’re doing everything on their own
In this video, I share…
? The 4 things you need to transition from expert to entrepreneur
? What to invest in so that you can grow your business
? How to free up your time to focus on what only you can do
Here are the highlights of what I shared…
There are 4 things to put in place to move from Expert to Entrepreneurship:
1. Build Assets
There are a lot of experts out there providing information. Experts are a dime a dozen.
What you need instead of overflowing with information is to be able to build assets that capture your intellectual property – your organised knowledge.
People want pathways to follow so you need to be able to join the dots for your clients.
When you create assets in your business, people are able to learn from you 24/7.
Your assets can include things like:
- Online courses and programs
- Automated funnels
- Clear client pathway
- Profitable Presentations
Ultimately, when you build assets, you start moving from business operator to business owner. From technician, to translator.
2. Develop People and Processes
When you develop people and processes in your business, you can free up your time to focus on what you’re good at and love, and what only you can do. This involves setting up automation systems, and training team.
It’s often quicker and easier to simply do tasks yourself, rather than training someone else to do them.
But even though it could help you move things along more quickly in the short term, in the long term the “I’ll just do it myself” mentality will not serve you in growing your business.
The reality is, we can do anything, but we can’t do everything.
Entrepreneurs allocate some of their time to training others to do tasks that someone else can do, so they can focus on higher-level work. And they keep increasing the amount of time they allocate to developing their people and processes.
3. Invest Into Growing Your Business
Expert – invests more into craft skills
Entrepreneur – invests more into business skills
Entrepreneurs put aside time every week to learn and grow the business.
If you don’t invest in your business, your brain doesn’t know whether you’re in or out if you are just dabbling.
As soon as I started investing thousands of dollars into my business, the fear, doubt, and anxiety all came up to the surface. But when you invest in yourself largely, it shows your brain that you’re serious about your business.
The very first time I did it, it leveled me up so fast that it brought massive exponential growth.
It takes courage to take your time and hard-earned money and risk it on investing in your business. But it shows that you’re backing yourself and believing in yourself.
4. Spend More Time In A One-to-Many Model
If you want to free up your time, you need to spend less time in a one-on-one model and more time in a one-to-many model.
This is how you create a greater impact. This is how you reach more people at a time.
You can speak to 50 people in a one-hour presentation. Or you can speak to 50 people one by one, which is going to take you 50 hours. 50 times more.
So, how much time are you investing in growing the one-to-many model in your business, meaning presenting to groups and running group programs?
This is the fourth thing that moves you to being more of the entrepreneur in your business.
Learning these skills will rapidly scale your business and free up your time.
All of this requires a shift in mindset.
In business, there are two distinct paths.
One path is the path of least resistance, where you keep doing the easy things, and keep up as best as you can with your never-ending to-do list.
On this path you do the easy things – you consume, you learn, you go to free events, but you don’t step out into the scary, challenging zone.
The second path is where you decide to do the hard things. This is where you face the things you’ve been avoiding.
The second path is the harder, scarier path, but it’s worth it.
Being a successful entrepreneur is looking at everything challenging you, facing it, and not running away from it.
Things begin to change when you make the decision to go all-in and say, “I don’t care how long it takes. I don’t care how hard it is. I’m going to do what it takes to grow my business.”
What it takes to apply these 4 things is an entrepreneurial mindset. It’s a mindset that thinks big picture.
This is the mindset of the entrepreneur.
