20 years old and 113.4 kgs. How did I get here, and more importantly what could I do about it? These questions are what prompted me to start on the long journey to weight loss and healthy living.

 

At first I joined Jenny Craig. Yes it was a huge expense, but being so unhealthy was a much larger expense. Slowly but surely the weight began to come off and I felt great! But maybe too great! I got a little too confident that I knew what I was doing, and when I left, sadly some of the weight went back on. The upside was that this time I knew I didn’t want to get back to where I had started. I then tried Weight watchers. Again the weight came off and I decided I didn’t need to keep going, but again a small amount of the weight went back on.

 

I realised at this stage that I needed a new tactic; something more permanent. So I hired a personal trainer, Kat Millar.  The advantages of seeing Kat over the other options I have tried are that not only do you get nutritional advice, you get education on exercise and methods for marinating your results.

 

The major advantages for me of training with Kat are the varied work-outs, great if like me you can get derailed by boredom! Also the regular catch ups for measures and to look at what improvements and changes can be made to both my training and nutrition habits. And of course the boxing! Who knew that really pushing myself and burning the calories could be such fun, and such an awesome outlet for stress!

 

Now here I am – 72kg and counting, only 4 kg away from my goal weight. Has it been hard work? Of course! But it’s rewarding and totally worth it.

 

I’m positive about the changes, and when it gets hard – and it does – I just flick through my progress charts and remind myself of how far I have come and how much harder it would be to do it all over again! I’m not going back!
